3rd ANNUAL LOS ANGELES BRAZILIAN FILM FESTIVAL –
(LABRFF) unveils its 2010 lineup
The festival will be held from April 27th to May 2nd
at the Landmark Theatre
PROGRAMMING INCLUDES TRIBUTE TO CELEBRATE THE
15TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NEW BRAZILIAN CINEMA

Los Angeles, CA March 31st – Meire Fernandes and Nazareno Paulo, co-founders of the
Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival – LABRFF are very proud to announce the lineup for
the upcoming 3rd edition of one of the most important Brazilian Film Festival in the
United States. LABRFF founded in 2007, is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the New
Brazilian Cinema. LABRFF will present feature films, documentaries and shorts,
animation and video projects.

A DRIFT (À DERIVA), by director Heitor Dhalia with Vincent Cassel and Camilla Belle The festival opening night feature, earned a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival
- Un Certain Regard in 2009 for its emotionally rich tale of a family spending summer
vacation with her family in Búzios. Filipa a fourteen-year old girl experiences her rite of
passage into adulthood while discovering love for the first time. A rite filled with anguish
when she learns that her father, a famous author is betraying her mother with a foreign
woman who lives in the small seaside town. But this secret is to be only the first in a
series of others both enchanting and painful, which she discovers about her family and
herself as well.

In Therapy (Divã), by director José Alvarenga Junior with Lilian Cabral and José Mayer Mercedes’ story is not unlike most other middle-aged women’s stories: she has been
happily married for twenty years, has two wonderful children who are about to leave
home, has a good job she is content with. She basically has a perfectly normal existence
- until she decides, for reasons she can’t quite put her finger on, to start seeing a
therapist. Little did she know that she was about to embark on an emotional and lifechanging trip…
