PRESIDENT´S MESSAGE TO ALESDE MEMBERS Since its creation, in 2008, the Latin American Association of Sociocultural Studies of Sport (ALESDE) placed itself not only in Latin America, but also in the international scenario. We are an organization that has as a goal to discuss and analyze the sport and physical activity, under the multidisciplinary approach of sociology, anthropology, science, education and others, to create new knowledge and be a reference in the decision making about public policies of Latin American government. In recent years we realized that our Latin America has a great potential to professors and researchers interested in the sociocultural analysis of sport. This had a reflection in the first meetings of our Association, held in Curitiba, in Brazil, in 2008 and in Maracay, in Venezuela, in 2010. The contributions and works have highlighted the reality of our region. Besides that, it is important to emphasize the efforts made by the several commissions of our Association, which worked to strengthen its position in the national and international scope. As a result of the above mentioned, to the year of 2011 it is provided the first issue of the Scientific Journal of ALESDE, which will be digital, plus a quarterly newsletter of our organization, which will inform this community about our activities. Our Website, Facebook and Twitter are also available and updated constantly with new information, to maintain our partners, collaborators and researchers informed about the realities of sport and physical activity in Latin America. We invite you all to stay in touch and inform yourselves through those media. On the behalf of the Board and the Association, we invite you all to participate of the forthcoming ALESDE´s Congress 2012, which will be held in Concepción, in Chile. Prof. Dr. Miguel Cornejo ALESDE´s President II ALESDE´S MEETING – MARACAY – VENEZUELA 2010 During the days 16, 17 and 18 of September of 2010 it was conducted the II ALESDE´s Meeting (Latin American Association of Sociocultural Studies of Sport), organized by the Centro de Investigación 'Estudios en Educación Física, Salud, Deporte, Recreación y Danza' (EDUFISADRED) in Maracay, Venezuela. With the participation of 270 people, the event was considered a success! We appreciate the participation of all and reiterate the thanks to the organizing team and the support of the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela, which made possible the achievement of this space of dialogue and experience share. Check the download of the video edited during the event or go to the ALESDE´s Youtube Channel and the ALESDE´s Group in Facebook. THANKS FOR THE ALESDE´S JOURNAL DISCLOSURE On behalf of ALESDE, we would like to thank everyone who has helped us in the Association´s journal disclosure, in particular the following groups: ASCIENDE – Asociación Colombiana De Investigación y Estudios Sociales Del Deporte. ALESDE´S JOURNAL RELEASE Since its design, the ALESDE is concerned to promote and disseminate the sociocultural studies of sport performed in Latin America. After holding events and effecting an extensive network of contacts among researchers and interested people of the area, its management has engaged in the designing of an academic journal that shown itself as a publication possibility of the Latin American studies of this area. To put this project in action, we count on the support of the Pró-Reitoria em Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa da Universidade Federal do Paraná (Brasil) through the Sistema Eletrônico de Revistas (SER). With this database, which works in the Open Journal System perspective, the implementation and management of the journal are local, made by its editors.
