Introduction The project “Validation of skills and knowledge for strengthening the positions of low-qualified employees in the labour market – ValidAid” started in October 2010. It has duration of two years and is expected to end in September 2012. This project aims at developing methods and tools for identifying and validating competences in the workplace and opening gateways to education and training to make it easier for low qualified individuals to develop their competences, and by that secure their position on the labour market. The project consortium includes seven organisations from six countries – Austria, Bulgaria, Iceland, France, Lithuania and Portugal. The partnership includes international universities, research centres, training and counselling organisations. This research among the potential stakeholders is a part of activities of the project that aims to find out possible partners and interested institution in the field of recognition of informal and non-formal learning and validation. It will be useful to have their opinion when the Validation kit is developed as the partners will be able to benefit from their experience in the validation field. “Validation of skills and knowledge for strengthening the positions of low-qualified employees in the labour market” 2. Work package 3 Review The research of the national systems of the partner countries for recognition and validation of informal and non-formal competencies acquired through work in the finance, trade and informational technologies sector and based on this research sectoral and country knowledge transfer: o Review of the normative legal base in each partner country in the sphere of recognition of non-formal and informal competencies acquired through work o Development of a consistent interview technique for the focus groups to get important insights on adaptation needs of the validation system in the financial sector in Iceland into the validation systems in the finance, trade and informational technologies sector in the partner countries o Conduction of Focus groups interviews with min. 10 stakeholders /employees with low qualification and without higher education, employers, educational and training organizations, representatives of national bodies in the educational and training sphere/ for each partner country o Development of reports from the Focus Groups Interviews from each project partner o Database with good practices in the partner countries in the sphere of recognition of non-formal and informal competencies o List with possible and interested in the topic stakeholders o Analysis of results and documentation “Validation of skills and knowledge for strengthening the positions of low-qualified employees in the labour market” 3.
