O que foi a BRASILIANA-2013
What was the BRASILIANA-2013

or cerca de duas semanas estivemos na cidade do
Rio de Janeiro ajudando na organização da
BRASILIANA-2013 que foi, sem dúvida alguma, uma
das maiores exposições filatélicas já realizadas no continente americano. Para não deixar esse evento sem
registros, a seguir apresentamos alguns comentários
sobre o que foi observado na cidade maravilhosa.
BRASILIANA 2013 which was, undoubtedly, one of
the largest philatelic exhibitions ever held in the
Americas. Not to let this event without registers, the
following are some comments on what was observed
in the wonderful city.
Píer Mauá
O local oficial da exposição (venue) fica em uma
região onde estão as docas do porto da antiga capital do Brasil. Com amplos armazéns, possui uma estrutura que ofereceu todo o conforto aos visitantes.
Localizado no centro
velho da cidade do
Rio de Janeiro, sofreu
um pouco com as obras de revitalização
que se realizavam no
seu entorno. A exposição ocupou uma grande área, abrangendo
os armazéns 3, 4 e 5.

Pier Mauá
The official venue is in a region where are located
the docks of the port of the ancient capital of Brazil.
With ample facilities, it has a structure that offered all
the comfort to visitors. It is in the old downtown of
the city of Rio de
Janeiro, and suffered a
bit with the works of
revitalization taking
place
in
its
surroundings. The
World Stamp Exhibition occupied a large
area, covering pavilions # 3, # 4 and # 5.

Cerimônia de inauguração
Aconteceu na terçafeira, 19 de novembro,
às 19:30 horas, no Píer
Mauá. Foi uma grande
festa, presenciada por
um elevado número de
pessoas (exibidores, comissários, comissão
organizadora, board da
FIP e público em geral).
No site da FEFIBRA, na
página específica da
BRASILIANA-2013,

Opening Ceremony
It took place on
Tuesday, November 19th,
at 7:30 PM, at Pier Mauá.
It was a great party
attended by a huge
number of people
( e x h i b i t o r s ,
commissioners, jurors,
organizing committee,
board of FIP and the
general public). At
FEFIBRA’s website, in

BRASILIANA-2013,

Hotel oficial
Royal Tulip, na praia de
São Conrado, é um hotel de
excelente padrão, porém um
pouco distante do Píer Mauá,
que foi o centro de todas as
atenções. Junto com o sempre
congestionado trânsito na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, tais
fatos ocasionaram alguns atrasos, mas nada que empanasse
o brilho dos vários eventos.

Equipes de trabalho
Não existem palavras para
descrever a atuação da pequena, mas brilhante e trabalhadora equipe FEBRAF, que se
desdobrou para cumprir os
prazos reduzidos que dispunha
para executar os vários itens
da agenda. Seus integrantes
não tiveram horário para terminar as tarefas diárias. Muitos, por excesso de trabalho,
pouco tempo dispuseram para
admirar a bela exposição! Ver
foto 7.
Também tivemos a ajuda
de colegas filatelistas do Pacífico Sul e do País Basco (comunidade autônoma espanhola), que fizeram, sem dúvida,
o grande diferencial para que
pudéssemos apresentar um
evento de grande porte. Esse
time foi reforçado por um grupo de funcionários dos Correios, os quais rapidamente se
aliaram ao nosso espírito de
trabalho.

Official hotel
Royal Tulip in the beach
of São Conrado is a high
standard hotel but a bit far
from the Pier Mauá which
was the center of attention.
Along with the always
congested traffic in the city of
Rio de Janeiro, such facts
caused some delays, but
nothing that darkened the
brightness of the several
events. See photo 6.
Working groups
There are no words to
describe the performance of
the small but brilliant and
hardworking team of
FEBRAF
(Brazilian
Federation of Philately),
which did the best it could to
meet the tight deadlines they
had to accomplish the various
items of the agenda. Its
members worked around the
clock; many of them, due to
the overwork, had no time to
admire the beautiful
exhibition. See photo 7.
We also had the help of
fellow philatelists from the
South Pacific and the Basque
Country
(autonomous
Spanish community); they
really did the big difference,
so we could present a great
event. This team was
reinforced by a group of
Brazilian Posts employees,
who quickly allied to our spirit
of work.
Activities in the Bin
Room
The initial reception of
the exhibits brought by the
N1 20 - Dezembro - 2013

rios comissários, foi realizada
em uma sala específica do hotel oficial. Em seguida elas
foram todas transportadas para
o local da exposição, acompanhadas de uma escolta de segurança. Uma vez instalado definitivamente no Píer Mauá, o
Bin Room (local onde foram
armazenadas todas as coleções) recebeu elogios de todos,
pois funcionou perfeitamente.
A coordenação desses trabalhos esteve a cargo da Sra.
Rosa Maria Bicalho, da equipe FEBRAF. Ver foto 8.
Trabalho de montagem e
desmontagem
A montagem e desmontagem das coleções nos/dos
respectivos quadros expositivos (cerca de 3.200) teve a
coordenação do Sr. Luis
Cláudio Fritzen, da equipe
FEBRAF. Funcionários dos
Correios também ajudaram
nesta tarefa. Ver foto 9 e
foto 10.
Foi um trabalho bastante
intenso. Nos dois dias que
antecederam a inauguração,
o colega Fritzen ficou praticamente sem dormir, pois era
necessário ter tudo pronto
para a grande cerimônia de
abertura da exposição.
Comissários
Formaram uma equipe
bastante diversificada. Muitos, que pela primeira vez
estiveram em solo brasileiro,
conseguiram reunir em seus
países (68 no total) as melhores coleções filatélicas da
atualidade. Devemos reconhecer o trabalho incansável
desse grupo, não só pelo
transporte de ida e volta, mas
também pelo carinho com

several commissioners was
held in a specific room of the
official hotel. Then they
were all transported to the
site of the exhibition,
accompanied by a security
escort. Once finally installed
at Pier Mauá, the Bin Room
(place where were stored all
exhibits) was praised by
everyone as it worked
perfectly. The coordination
of these activities was in
charge of Mrs. Rosa Maria
Bicalho, of FEBRAF team.

Mounting and
dismounting the exhibits
Assembly
and
disassembly of the exhibits
in/from the respective
exhibition frames (about
3,200) had the coordination
of Mr. Luis Claudio Fritzen,
of FEBRAF team. Brazilian
Posts workers helped in this
task, too. See photo 9 and
photo 10.
It was a very intense
work. In the two days before
the inauguration, Mr. Fritzen
was virtually without to
sleep because it was
necessary to have everything
ready for the grand opening
ceremony.
National Commissioners
They composed a very
diverse team. Many of them,
who for the first time were in
Brazil, could gather in their
countries (68 in total) the best
philatelic exhibits available
nowadays. We must recognize
the tireless work of this group,
not only for the round trip
transportation, but also for the
affection with which they
treated the exhibits (most of
que tratou as coleções (a
maioria delas contendo peças
de grande valor).
Destaque especial deve
ser dado ao colega Rubem
Porto Jr., da equipe FEBRF,
que atuou como ComissárioGeral da BRASILIANA2013. Foi uma tarefa bastante
árdua ter que gerenciar um
grupo de 68 comissários nacionais, de países distintos, com
línguas distintas e com estilos
de trabalho distintos. Foram
várias e várias horas dedicadas
em suas atividades, tanto alguns meses antes do início da
exposição, como durante o
evento. Ver foto 11.
Jurados
Foi o mais experiente grupo já reunido em uma exposição deste nível, nas Américas.
O que existe de melhor no
mundo filatélico foi apresentado à comissão julgadora. O
trabalho dos jurados, bastante
árduo devido ao elevado nível
das coleções, foi presidido
pelo Brasileiro Dr. Klerman
Wanderley Lopes, da equipe
FEBRAF, que executou essa
tarefa de maneira brilhante.

them containing pieces of high
value).
Special emphasis must be
given to the work of our
colleague Mr. Rubem Porto
Jr., of FEBRAF team, who
acted as the CommissionerGeneral of BRASILIANA2013. It was an arduous task
to have to manage a group of
68 national commissioners
from different countries, with
different languages and with
different work styles. There
were several and several hours
spent in his activities, both
many months before the
beginning of the world stamp
exhibition, such as during the
event. See photo 11.
Jurors
It was the most experienced group ever seen in an
exhibition of this level, in the
Americas. The best in the philatelic world was presented to
the judging commission. The
work of the jury, quite arduous
due to the high level of the
exhibits, was chaired by our
Brazilian colleague Dr.
Klerman Wanderley Lopes of
FEBRAF team, who
performed this task in a
brilliant way. See photo 12.
Seminários
Também coordenados por
Klerman Wanderley Lopes, da
equipe FEBRAF, foram de excelente nível, orientados
tanto para os colecionadores em geral, como para a
reciclagem de jurados. Nada menos do que sete seminários foram apresentados, trazendo mais conhecimento aos
que tiveram a oportunidade de participar dos mesmos.
Entre eles, destacamos: História Postal, Aerofilatelia, Inteiros Postais, Filatelia Tradicional, Maximafilia, Filatelia Temática, Falsificações. Ver foto 13.
Technical Seminars
Also coordinated by Mr.
Klerman Wanderley Lopes of FEBRAF team, the
seminars had an excellent level. They were oriented to
collectors in general and also helped to update jurors.
No fewer than seven seminars were presented, bringing
more knowledge to those who had the opportunity to
attend them: Postal History, Aerophilately, Postal
Stationery, Traditional Philately, Maximaphily,
Thematic Philately, Forgeries. See photo 13.

trained to work with kids, was responsible for the

aconteceram durante a exposição. Alunos de várias escolas da cidade do Rio de Janeiro estiveram visitando a BRASILIANA-2013 e participando das oficinas, onde cada um
aprendeu a montar a sua primeira coleção de selos. Ver

Encontro de Jurados, Comissários e Comissão Organizadora
Aconteceu na quarta-feira,
20/11, às 20:00 horas, na tradicional churrascaria Rio’s
Porcão, no Aterro do Flamengo, cidade do Rio de Janeiro.
Foi um grande congraçamento entre os mais de 250 presentes, vindos de várias partes do mundo. Todos puderam
se deliciar com a excelente
gastronomia local e com um
show de beleza e encantamento de uma pequena ala da escola de samba da Portela, com
um casal de passistas que animou e encantou a todos os presentes. Alguns filatelistas se
esbaldaram ao lado da linda
morena que se exibiu com
muita graça e beleza, além de
transmitir descontração para
todos que lá estiveram. Ver

Reunião da Royal Philatelic Society (RPS) de Londres
Foi na tradicional e charmosa Confeitaria Colombo,

Meeting of Jurors, Commissioners and Organizing
Committee
It was held on Wednesday,
November 20th, at 8:00 PM, in
the traditional steakhouse
Rio’s Porcão, located in Flamengo, in the city of Rio de
Janeiro. It was a great social
interaction among more than
250 attendees from various
parts of the world. Everyone
could be delighted by the
excellent local cuisine and a
show of beauty and enchantment of a small wing of the
Portela samba school, with a
couple of dancers who cheered and charmed everyone.
Some attendees enjoyed beside the beautiful brunette who
exhibited herself with much
grace and beauty, transmitting
relaxation for all who were
there. See photo 16.

na Rua Gonçalves Dias, centro histórico da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, na
quinta-feira (21/11), às 19:30 horas. O
encontro ocorreu em um clima de amizade, com a classe e a pontualidade tradicionais dos britânicos, aliadas a um
dos mais belos espaços remanescentes
do Império do Brasil, numa conjuntura
que encantou a todos. Durante o evento, o Presidente da FEBRAF, Sr.
Reinaldo Estevão de Macedo, recebeu
o Certificate of Fellowship da RPS,
honraria concedida mundialmente a um
número reduzido filatelistas (poucos do
Brasil ostentam este galardão).
Sentimo-nos orgulhosos por esse reconhecimento. A partir de agora o Sr.
Reinaldo Macedo é o representante da
RPS de Londres no Brasil. Ver foto 17

Jantar de Palmares
Ocorreu no sábado, 23 de novembro, às 20:00 horas, no salão Gávea
(A e B) do hotel oficial: elegância,
beleza, atenção, charme,
frequência total, salões impecáveis, serviço nota 10,
objetividade, descontração,
discursos objetivos e premiação justa. Culminou com
um excelente show de música brasileira que encantou o
superlotado salão de festas.

The meeting took place in an
atmosphere of friendship, with the
traditional British class end
punctuality, combined with one of the
finest remaining spaces of the Empire
of Brazil, in an environment that
charmed everyone. During the event,
the President of FEBRAF, Mr.
Reinaldo Estevão de Macedo,
received the Certificate of Fellowship
of the RPS, worldwide honor granted
to a small number of philatelists (few
in Brazil have this award). We feel
proud of this recognition. From now
on Mr. Reinaldo Macedo is the
representative of RPS London in
Brazil. See photo 17 and photo 18.
Palmarès Dinner
It occurred on Saturday,
November 23rd, at 8:00 PM, in the
Gávea Hall (A and B) of the official
hotel: elegance, beauty, care,
