BRIEF PROFILE OF PROF. Ligia Maura COSTA
PRESIDENT, XIME, BANGALORE
Ligia Maura COSTA is Professor at Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da
Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-EAESP), since 1999. She holds a Ph.D. and a LL.M both in
international trade law from the Université of Paris-X, and a Bachelor's Degree in Law from
Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo (USP). She attended a LL.M in
international law (DEA) at the Université of Paris-II and was Visiting Scholar at the
University of Michigan Law School.
She has been Associate Dean for International Relations since 2004 at FGV-EAESP.
She is author of 7 books, one of them published in France and many articles published in
Brazil and abroad, having worked at the WTO in the Legal Affairs Division.
Professor Costa is invited Professor at Université Catholique de Louvain and Universität St
Gallen and she has also taught and lectured in several other countries, including US, France,
Peru and Argentina. At the moment, she is a guest professor at Sciences Po, Paris (IEP).
She is member of the Scientific Board of Fondation pour le Droit Continental.
