Thursday 22nd January 2015. Dear Parents
Thursday 22nd January 2015.
Dear Parents,
Happy new year to you all; I hope that you have been enjoying the holidays with your
children and that they are looking forward to their return next Monday 26th January
for an 8.10 start. As we return to school for the final term of this academic year, I would
like to ask you to give particular regard to the following:
Parents who drop children off before the prep gate opens at 7.40 should be aware that
these pupils will now wait down in the covered area (as the area where they waited
previously is now off limits due to the building works). Pupils can be dropped off and
will be directed down the ramp to the new waiting area by the guards.
You children took home their term 1 reports on the last day of term and whilst I am
sure you have already looked at them and discussed them with the children, it would
be super if you could take the report out again and go through it, to help the children
set themselves some targets for improvement and further development over this
coming term. Their teachers will also be following this up with the children in the first
week back at school.
I would also like to ask for your cooperation in making sure that your child’s
appearance in their school uniform of the highest standard and I have set out below a
reminder of our expectations with regard to this:
Hair:
We ask that all girls have their hair pulled neatly off their face, either with an ‘elastic
band’ or in a ponytail.
For boys, hair must be: above their eyebrows and ears and off their collars.
Skirt/trouser lengths:
As a general rule, skirts should not be shorter than 5 cm above your daughters’ knees.
The same applies for the dresses worn by the Prep 1-3s. Many of the children may have
grown in the holidays so please do check and if necessary buy longer/larger skirts and
dresses and ensure that boys’ trousers are covering their ankles and touching their
shoes.
Shoes:
For girls the shoes must be leather polishable shoes- this means that
suede/rubber/cloth is not allowed. Furthermore they may not be slip on (sapatilla type)

shoes. They need to be a solid shoe. They can be the ‘dolly’ type with the strap across
the front or a loafer made of leather, (which is more substantial).
For boys in the Prep school, we allow polishable leather shoes and all black trainers,
providing they are made of leather and do not have a mixture of materials such as
mesh and cloth. The sole of the shoe must be black also. No shoes with any colours
other than black should be worn.
Socks:
For girls the socks must be all white and cover the ankle. No sports socks are allowed
except for PE.
For boys the socks must grey and must also cover their ankles. White socks are to be
worn for PE only.
Jewellery
Boys are not allowed any jewellery of any sort, but are allowed to wear a watch.
Girls may wear small stud earrings (one stud per ear) and a watch.
In the Prep School no pupil is allowed to wear bracelets or ties around their wrists (eg
bon fim ribbons etc are not allowed).
Please note that updated ECA booklets will available on Tuesday 27th to parents and
that school ECAs will commence in week 3 as of Monday 2nd February. You should
have already been given information by the respective teachers regarding the privately
arranged activities which take place after school, (PASAs).
Warm regards.
