Editor’s Notes
The following list of references has been compiled from
various sources on the Web, including several search
services, specialized databases, and journal and author
homepages, in addition to the journals and reprints
themselves. If you note inaccuracies or omissions, please let
me know and the correct version will appear in the next
number of MONOCULUS. Grateful thanks to the donors of
reprints to the Monoculus and Wilson libraries.
The year of publication as given refers to the year in
June 2009
which the printed version of the journal was distributed, and
not the year when it first became available online, if these
are different. This supplement will be posted in pdf format
on the WAC website.
Apostol Apostolov, Leszek A. Bledzki, Anton Brancelj,
Cristina Bruno, Supawadee Chullasorn, David Damkaer,
José Eduardo Martinelli Filho, Ivan Pandourski, Watchariya
Purivirojkul, Y. Ranga Reddy, and Jeff Turner graciously
provided literature references and, in some cases, reprints.
Other colleagues including Supawadee Chullasorn have
donated reprints of articles that were listed in previous
numbers, to the Monoculus and Wilson libraries. Thanks to
Samuel Hylander for permission to reproduce the cover of
his doctoral thesis. Translations of titles in languages other

Huge Man-Made Algae Swarm Devoured —
Bad for Climate?
“A short time after scientists pumped iron-enhanced water into
oceans off Argentina, tiny shrimplike crustaceans called copepods
(pictured) wolfed down the resulting algae bloom—and a potential
weapon against global warming quickly disappeared.”
