Waterloo is a city in and the county seat of Black Hawk County, Iowa, United States. It was in Waterloo that Yluska
and I have started an Iowas'a Innovation Tour and it was our first time at the State of Iow, Our first place to have
dinner after check into Country Inn & Suites (405, Hammond avenue, Waterloo) was at Galeria de Paco Dinner
(Commercial Street, Waterloo). with graffiti afrescos that reminds the Sistine Chapel in Vatican and it was painted by
Paco Rosic, son of a Bosnian emigré Jacky Rosic.

Yluska iniciamos nossa visita nesta temporada de pela primeira vez em IOWA. O nosso primeiro contato foi com
um jantar na Galeria de PACO, nas paredes e no teto a reprodução da Capela Sistina do Vaticano, num trabalho de
grafitti de Paco Rosic, filho de Jacky Rosic, que deixaram a Bósnia para se instalar nos EUA.

Paco e Jacky Rosic e Christine Valencia (Burlington Trailways)
The artist Paco Rosic was born in Bosnia in 1979 and has lived his first 12 years in Sarajevo. After the war his
family was relocated to Germany where he became a painter and a street dancer (break dance).
In September 1997 his family moved to the United States relocated at Waterloo. Recentlt they became american
citizens and the Galeriade Paco became a fashionable spot and a tourist attraction.
O artista Paco Rosic nasceu em 1979 e viveu seus primeiros 12 anos em Sarajevo. Depois da guerra a família se
mudou para a Alemanha e onde além da pintura se destacou como dançarino (break dance).
Em setembro de 1997 a família se transferiu para os Estados Unidos e escolheram Waterloo para se instalar.
Recentemente se tornaram cidadãos americanos e o restaurante Galeria de Paco virou um atrativo turístico.

Our visit today started at John Deere Waterloo Engine Works (3802 West Ridgeway Avenue) in Waterloo, Iowa. It was a
behind the scenes and I could see how our biggest machines are brought to life in some of the most modern and efficient
factories in the world. Our tour guides took us through each stage of the manufacturing process, explaining how all the pieces
come together to create these massive green machines.
Nossa visita começou no John Deere Waterloo Engine Works (3802 West Ridgeway Avenune) em Waterloo, Estado de IOWA,
nos Estados Unidos. Eu pude conhecer o que existe por trás do mundo da fábrica e o pude ver como as grandes maquinas sao
trazidas para a vida na mais moderna e eficiente da fabrica no mundo, a John Deere Farm. Nosso guia de turismo nos levou a
cada estagio do processo de manufaturaçao explicando como todas as peças do quebra cabeça pudessem se uinir para criar
estas imensas maquinas verdes.

Next visit was at Iowa State Universiy Horticulture Research Station and after we went to the Reiman Gardens for lunch &
tour.
The Reiman Gardens is situated on a 17- acre site located immediately south of Jack Trice Stadium on the Iowa
State University(ISU) campus in Ames, Iowa. Reiman Gardens (pronounced Rye-Men) is a year-round facility that
has become one of the top ten attractions in Central Iowa. It is open seven days per week, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm,
with extended hours in the summer season and extended evening hours for its annual events. The Gardens are
closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Reiman Gardens consists of a dozen distinct garden areas, an indoor conservatory and an indoor butterfly "wing",
butterfly emergence cases, a gift shop, and several supporting greenhouses. ISU students and their classes are
admitted free of charge, as are the Gardens' members, known as CoHorts. An admission fee is charged to the
public. ManyUnited Way of Story County agencies directors can receive free passes to distribute to their clients.

Iowa State University has had a horticulture garden since 1914; Reiman Gardens is the third location for these
gardens. Today's gardens began in 1993 with a gift from Bobbi and Roy Reiman. Construction began in 1994 and
the Gardens' initial 5 acres (20,000 m2) were officially dedicated on September 16, 1995. The landscape design was
created by Rodney Robinson Landscape Architects. The Mahlstede Horticulture Learning Center was the original
building in the Gardens; the original maintenance building was torn down when the new conservatory was built and
a new maintenance building was built in the an area of the S1 parking lot. The Gardens officially opened its 30,000square-foot (2,800 m2) conservatory complex on November 3, 2002. The new building made the Gardens a yearround facility with an indoor plant conservatory (5,000 square feet), a glass house filled with tropical plants and
exotic butterflies (2,500 square feet), an auditorium for classes and events, gift shop, an events hallway,
greenhouses dedicated to the indoor glass house needs, a headhouse, staff offices, and two large areas housing all
the heating and cooling and greenhouse systems equipment.

At the evening we went to Della Viti Wine Bar. It is Iowa’s first and only self-serve wine bar. This bar owned by
Gerald & Cora Caligiuri has 48 different varieties of wine available at any given time as well as a full service bar and
craft beers.

One great experience in Iowa's AG Innovation Tour was to visit Cinnamon Ridge Farms. For over six generations, the
Maxwell family have been farming in Donahue, Iowa.

We had the pleasure to meet John Maxwell and his wife and daughters Amy and Kara.
The farm is named for the "Cinnamon"color of the Jerseys and "Ridge"for the elevation of the farm.

nome de Cinnamon devido a cor do gado e Ridge pela fazenda estar em um local elevado.
This farm produces an average of 21,234 pounds of milk, making them the seventh highest producing Jersey herd in the
U.S. This was made possile by the addition of four Lely Astronaut A4 robotic milking systems.

I do not like the idea of milk taken by mechanical engines, but their milk is processed on the farm into cheese, which is
sold in the retail store and restaurants.

The Cinnamon Ridge Farms has a smal store where some products are sold to the public.
The farm hosts 2,500 visitors annually from all over the wolrld.

to have met this wonderful person.
