Football for Kids returns…
F
ootball for Kids makes a welcome return this summer,
bringing the skills of Manchester
United Soccer School to the younger community at Vale do Lobo. Aspiring young footballers, aged between 6 and 16, will learn the skills
of the world’s most famous Club,
which also boasts some of the best
players in the world.
Two 5-day camps will take place
at the Vale do Lobo Football pitch,
with classes set according to age
groups, and the final day of training will take place at the Algarve
Stadium in Faro (transportation
will be provided).
Football for Kids will take place
between 1st – 5th August and 15th –
19th August and places are limited.
Book early to avoid disappointment as the weeks are extremely
popular. The price for the week of
training and fun is €249,00 and
includes; football kit, morning
snacks, insurance, administrative
fee and of course a special diploma.

Grand Champions 2011
D
espite the popularity of Vale
do Lobo Grand Champions, with the event celebrating its
tenth anniversary last year, it is
with great sadness that Premier
Sports, the tournament organizer,
announced that the tournament
will not take place in 2011. Due to
the withdrawal of official sponsors
and their subsequent funding, it
has been decided to re-schedule
the event, hopefully for 2012. This
is of course not the last Vale do
Lobo will see of this popular family week of tennis, with the media
interest it generates still of huge
importance to the Vale do Lobo
Tennis Academy and the resort,
and therefore every step will be
taken to ensure that it doesn’t stay
off the Event Calendar for too long.

Coventry city FC visit
S
ports training camps remain
as popular as ever at Vale do
Lobo, in particular, with football teams, with July welcoming
another UK team to the resort.
Coventry City FC’s management opted to bring the team
over for a spot of recreation and
training, following the successful reports of other teams
in recent years. Vale do Lobo’s
reputation for this type of tailored service grows stronger
by the day. The players and
their coaches enjoyed several days of hospitality
and the use of key facilities to assist with, and enhance their training. The
success of the visit and excellent feedback will hopefully
ensure we see Coventry City
back here again very soon.

Pay and Display parking
L
oule Council have recently extended pay and display parking
meters in a number of new locations all over the Algarve, and local
resorts including Vale do Lobo fall
under this jurisdiction.
Parking meters have been installed
on Avenida do Mar and Estrada da
Horta and came into effect on 17th
June.
The pay and display system at the
car parks of the Praça is currently
being installed and will come into
effect mid July. The system will be
operational during the summer
months until the end of September.
Proprietors Club Members should
encourage their families and guests
to use the Internal Circuit Bus
(available upon the presentation
of your Vale do Lobo card) in order to avoid unnecessary charges.
Requests for any additional Family
and Welcome Cards can be made to
the Proprietors’ Club.

Music from the Musicals
O
ne of the most symbolic
events at Vale do Lobo, the
Concert on the Course offers an
enchanting insight into culture.
This year, the resort has teamed up
with the Algarve Tourism Board
for their Allgarve events programme, and will be hosting a very
special outdoor performance.
23rd July will see Vale do Lobo welcome tenor John Addison, classical
singer Sofia Estobar and the magical sounds of the Algarve Orchestra in a tribute concert to the works
of legendary composer Andrew
Lloyd Webber and his world famous musicals.
Guests can expect to be transported to the theatre in spectacular form with renditions from
Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Cats
and Phantom of the Opera, all of
which have earned Lloyd Webber
seven Tony Awards, three Grammy
Awards, an Oscar and a Golden
Globe. Pieces on the night will
include “The music of the night”
(Phantom of the Opera), “Don’t
cry for me Argentina” (Evita) and
“Memories” (Cats).
The Allgarve “Tribute to Andrew
Lloyd Webber” concert will take
place on 23rd July at 22:00h, at the
football pitch, with tickets priced
at €20,00.

O
ne of Portugal’s most prestigious charity gatherings – the
Portugal Charity Cup – returns to
Vale do Lobo in July, by request of
his Excellency the President of Portugal, Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
The Portugal Charity Cup is a
popular annual golf event which
sees the country’s elite join forces
to raise funds for a number of
highly deserving charitable entities throughout the country, with
his Excellency the President both
selecting and sponsoring a special
beneficiary each year.
The 2011 edition of the Portugal
Charity Cup once again take place
at Vale do Lobo along the Ocean
Golf Course on 9th July, with his Excellency the President confirmed
to attend the opening ceremony
and grand prize giving dinner – his
presence a huge honour for the resort and one which will generate
both a media frenzy and capture
the valuable attention of the general public.
Vale do Lobo is proud to be associated with this special occasion, and
wishes all the participants every
success in raising vital funds for
worthy causes in the country.

Cavaco Silva, regressa a Vale do Lobo
em Julho, pelo 2º ano consecutivo.
A Taça nasceu de um repto feito por
Mário Carvalhosa, organizador do
torneio, à Presidência da República
para patrocinar uma prova com fins
sociais que todos os anos apoia uma
Instituição de solidariedade social
diferente.
A quinta edição da Taça Portugal
Solidário em golfe regressa a Vale
do Lobo, já no dia 9 de Julho, sendo
disputada no Ocean Golf Course na
modalidade shotgun. O Presidente da
República associa-se mais uma vez ao
evento, que será, neste ano, a favor
da APATRIS 21 – Associação de Portadores de Trissomia 21 do Algarve,
marcando presença na abertura do
torneio e no jantar de encerramento,
que merecerá, certamente, grande
projecção mediática e interesse do
público em geral.
Na realidade, é com grande honra e
satisfação que Vale do Lobo se associa a este evento de caridade, formulando os votos de sucesso a todos os
participantes e organização na angariação de fundos para tão nobre causa
social.
Hole-in-One, and a trip to Vegas!

ongratulations to Mr Andrew
Long who took on the challenges of the Royal Golf Course
head first and came out smiling,
with an impressive hole-in-one!
It was a double success for Mr Long
who also won a trip to Las Vegas as
part of the Million Dollar Hole-inOne competition he was participating in on the course with friends
from the Saddleworth Golf Club.
Other recent hole-in-one successes
include Mr David Reynolds and Mr
William Stanley-Morton on the 9th
of the Royal, and Mrs Janez Grilc,
Mr Eithne McMahon and Mr Rainer Grohe, respectively on the 17th,
13th and 7th holes of the Ocean
Course.

passado dia 19 de Maio, superou o
desafio do Royal Golf Course e conseguiu um impressionante hole-in-one
no buraco 7!
Na realidade, este triunfo revelou-se ainda mais notável, pois Andrew
Long ganhou também uma viagem a
Las Vegas no âmbito da competição
Million Dollar Hole-in-One em participava com alguns amigos do Clube de
Golfe de Saddleworth.
Quem joga golfe sabe que o melhor
que lhe pode acontecer é fazer um
hole-in-one, e em Vale do Lobo foram vários os jogadores que o conseguiram recentemente, incluindo
David Reynolds e William Stanley
Morton, ambos no buraco 9 do Royal
Golf Course, e Janez Grilc, Eithne McMahon e Rainer Grohe nos buracos 17,
13 e 7 do Ocean Golf Course, respectivamente.

or holidaymakers and residents, the reassurance that
your health and safety are in
good hands is of paramount importance, In fact, the resort is renowned in the Algarve for being
the safest holiday destination, with
strong ties to local emergency services and continuous investment
in security.
Visitors and residents will feel this
reassurance immediately, with
the resort’s 35 security staff visibly
patrolling day and night. Trained
to deal with every emergency and
proficient in first aid, defibrillation
(the starting of the heart in cardiac
arrest), and self-defence, their unrivalled support system could actually save lives.
A central security office monitors
key areas of the resort by CCTV
with 65 cameras in use all year
round, and the slightest concern
or abnormality is investigated immediately.
The installation of panic buttons,
fire alarms, intruder alarms and
medical support equipment are all
highly encouraged, and the Security Department offers a handy installation, monitoring and maintenance service. The alarm systems
have proven particularly popular
with the resort’s community and
really do keep crime at bay.
Tailored security can also be arranged, and there has been an increasing demand for family safety
arrangements and VIP security –
all can be provided effectively and
immediately by the Vale do Lobo
Security Department.
