TIN ORE
• It’s a silver and malleable metal. Is not easily and corrosion resistant oxidized. It’s mainly used for
coating other Ores from corrosion. Tin is obtained from the Ore cassiterite.
• Ariquemes, is world capital of cassiterite. The first discovery cassiterite mine in Rondônia was in
the Machadinho River in 1995. These finding changes the socio-economic history of Rondônia.

PALLADIUM ORE
• It’s a rare, scarce and bright white metal. Chemically
resembles platinum. No rust with air and is the one with
lower density and lower melting point within the platinum

VANADIUM ORE
• It’s a ductile metal transition, soft, mild, gray and scanty. Forming a metal oxide layer
stabilizes the element against oxidation. It’s a material that is obtained from different Ores and
also fuel oil. Part of the production of vanadium in the world comes from the magnetite.
• It’s used, for example, in war industries, aviation, aerospace, construction, production of
tools and stainless steel surgical tools and a range of smaller things like lighters.

TANTALITE ORE
• It’s a blue- gray, shiny, heavy, ductile, hard and a good conductor of electricity and heat dark metal.
• Tantalum is extracted from an ore called coltan (columbite and tantalite composed). Tantalite has properties that
have contributed to the progress of the electronic industry: it has high conductivity, has refractive power (high
temperature resistant), temporarily stores electrical charge and releases it when needed and also resists corrosion.
• The Oreization of Ta and Nb economically most valuable and important are the tantalite – compound of tantalum
oxide, iron and manganese [(Fe, Mn Ta2O6] – and columbite – compound niobium oxide, iron and manganese
[(Fe, Mn) Nb2O6].
• For these reasons coltan is essential for the production and miniaturization of capacitors for mobile phones,
computers, monitors, GPS systems, satellite guided weapons or material.

NIOBIUM ORE
• Niobium is a gray and ductile metal, very similar to tantalum. It’s extracted from an ore called
coltan (columbite and tantalite composed). The columbite – compound niobium oxide, iron and
manganese [(Fe, Mn) Nb2O6]- 98% of its reserves are in the state of Amazonas and Roraima.
• The largest producer of Niobium is Brazil.
• If the ore has more niobium and less tantalium is called Columbite-tantalite or Ferrocolumbitatantalite. And if it’s the opposite it’s called Tantalite. Columbite is common in nature forming
elements are combined and Ores predominate over each other, as in this case.

IRON ORE
• Iron is a metal amply used by industries. It’s a malleable metal, silver-gray and has
magnetic properties: is ferromagnetic at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.
It’s extremely hard and dense.
• It’s found in nature as a Ore.
The iron ore is present in admixture with impurities and soil (ground) deposits.
After going through a process of cleansing and purifying iron ore is taken to high
temperature furnaces in the steel.
• Iron is the hard metal most used with 95% of the world production.
• Pure iron (purity from 99.5%) doesn’t have too many applications, exceptions to use
your magnetic potential.
• Iron has a great application to make steel products, using It as a matrix element to
accommodate other alloying elements both metallic and non-metallic.
