NOTES OF MEETING HELD ON 13 JANUARY 2010 IN THE FITA OFFICE,
LAUSANNE.
Present:
Lynne Evans, (LAE) Carole Hicks (CAH) and Tom Dielen (TD)
Purpose of meeting:
 FITA’s attitude to the concept and actuality of a CW archery body;
 its relationship with FITA and;
 the general attitude of the Archery Association of India (AAI) re the
discussion of the formation of a Commonwealth Archery body during
the Test Event in March.
 The request to schedule a formal meeting during the Commonwealth
Games in October 2010
1) It is clear from the communications received on 23 December and 3 January
that India is still of the view it “owns” an Association, that Mr Malhotra is its
continuing President and they expect no change to that scenario. AAI offered
a restricted and restrictive agenda re a proposed meeting in October.
2) TD was of the view that we should not make the CWG the major focus of the
Association because that was the prerogative of FITA, but to concentrate on
developing and strengthening archery within the nations of the
Commonwealth. This would aid support to having archery included in the
Games Event Programme on a more frequent basis.
3) The only way that formal recognition could be made FITA/CAA would be if
CAA became an Associate International Federation with a formal MOU
between the two bodies.
[the CAA C&R would need to be modified for this purpose Action CAH]
4) TD noted the development of the web site, gave approval for the use of the
FITA logo (World Archery) to link to the FITA web site and confirmed
approval would be required from CGF for use of its logo, which he thought
would be forthcoming.
(Action Al Wills / LAE))
5) TD agreed the official launch of the web site to coincide with the Test event
was the best timing, that he would put such an announcement in the “news”
from FITA on its front page with a link to the commonwealtharchery.com
(cwa.com).site.
6) There would be some coverage by FITA of the Commonwealth Games
archery but it would be better if it was brief with the links to cwa.com where
all the information would be found. TD further agree to ensure the PDFs of the
results be sent to directly from the official results team to Al Wills to ensure
immediate
information
being
made
available
to
the
commonwealtharchery.com website All the results, any and reports / photos
would be on the cwa.com site. This would promote the intended CAA.
(Action LAE send Al Wills contact to TD)
7) In terms of the meeting during the Games in October, TD and Paul Paulsen
(representing the President) would be there for at least part of the time. He
would ensure it coincided with the meeting at which he would expect to be at
least an observer.
8) It was decided to agree with most of the agenda proposed by AAI with
modifications to include the election of officers, A proposal for Mr Malhotra
to be elected Hon. President, and following the adoption of the rest of the
C&R, the other positions to be filled.
9) A request for a formal letter of invitation to all Commonwealth nations from
Mr Malhotra to the October meeting also to be posted on the cwa.com site.
10) All the documents to date including the notes from the meeting in Ulsan,
information to Continental Presidents, the draft C&R suitably modified,
possible funding sources, proposals to be discussed at the meeting in October,
etc would be posted on the cwa.com website before the Test Event to be ready
for the launch in March 2010.
11) Noted the door to the inclusion of Archery on the Glasgow 2014 programme
was not totally shut but to be dealt with after the Delhi dust settles.
