SECOND LIFE®/OPENSIMULATOR TECHNOLOGY WAS THE CHOSEN DIGITAL TOOL. WHY LISBON? • ON 1ST NOVEMBER 1755 LISBON SUFFERED A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE THAT PROFOUNDLY CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE CITY’S DEVELOPMENT AND HISTORY. • RESEARCHERS OF THE HISTORY OF LISBON PRIOR TO THE 1755 EARTHQUAKE WERE ALWAYS CONFRONTED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM: THE INSUFFICIENCY OF DOCUMENTARY SOURCES; THE LACK OF URBAN AND ARCHITECTURAL REMAINS - WHAT WAS NOT DESTROYED BY THE EARTHQUAKE, THE TSUNAMI AND THE FIRE, DISAPPEARED WITH THE RECONSTRUCTION OR WAS ASSIMILATED BY IT. • ON ITS RUINS, A RETICULAR, REGULAR PLAN GAVE SHAPE TO A NEW CITY.
