MAY THE CHILDREN COME: Mostrinha de Cinema (Cinema Litlle Exhibit) opens space
for children’s programming (Published in: 10-05-2009)
Mostrinha de Cinema (Cinema Litlle Exhibit) opens space for children’s programming, invests
in the new audiences and assures children’s access to quality films
Brazilian cinema for kids is also one of the highlights of the 2009 CineBH
Exhibit programming. From the 15th to the 20th of October, the event offers entertainment to the
whole family with nine films exhibitions being part of Mostrinha de Cinema (Cinema Little
Exhibit). Every kid, of course, is a special guest in the event that will hold five sessions where
children will have the opportunity to interact, get informed and have fun. CineBH has the intention
to open the kids’ eyes and get their attention by putting them close to the Brazilian cinema as well
as helping them form a critic point of view. After all, cinema is not only grown up people’s subject.
Scheduled for the weekend (October 17th and 18th), Mostrinha de Cinema (Cinema Little Exhibit)
brings Brazilian productions with a great dose of fun and adventure. They are all national
movies with the exception of the French production “O rei e o pássaro”, which also marks the
dialogue between Brazil and France, this time in the children’s schedule. The exhibit will show the
total of four films and five short-films.
If you’re going to Santa Tereza Square, where the Cinema Village is set, be prepared, because the
attractions begging even before the exhibitions. The audience will have an interactive reception
with the cheered combination between the circus and the cinema. Before getting inside Santa
Tereza Cine, where the sessions will take place, the whole family is invited to a very fun
concentration. The goal is to make the moment magic so it will linger forever in everyone’s
memory, especially in those who, for the first time, will have their first access to a movie house.
Palhaço Popó (“Popó, the clown”), is the host and will be responsible for the welcoming with
games, music, mimics, juggling and magic tricks. But Popó is not by himself. He’ll have eight
other clowns to help him. Pipoca, the “Cinema Little Exhibit” mascot, will also be part of this big
party. At the movie time, a very cheerful procession will gather everyone from the square to Santa
Tereza Cine. “Charlie Chaplin and Didi are examples of characters who were able to unite both arts
(circus and the cinema) – they are clowns but are also on the big screen”, says Popó.
The “Little Exhibit” schedule brings the following tittles: “O guerreiro Didi e a Ninja
Lili” (Marcus Figueiredo), “O rei e o pássaro” (Paul Grimault), “Turma da Mônica em uma
aventura no tempo” (Maurício de Sousa) and “Palavra (En)Cantada” (Helena Solberg). The last
one is part of the “Family with poetry” session.
The short-film sessions will bring the tittles: “Fance” (Flávio Chiarini Pereira), “Jardim das
Cores”, (Guilherme Reis), “A garrafa do diabo”, (Fernando Coimbra), “O menino
quadradinho” (Diego Lopes) and “A festa que caiu do céu”(Karen Akerman).
The 2009 CineBH Exhibit has the reflection about international co-production as main theme
and
honors the production company O2
Filmes, which has
the directors Fernando
Meirelles and Paulo Morelli and the producer Andrea Barata Ribeiro as partners.
The event is part of Cinema sem Fonteiras (Frontierless Cinema) – a national audiovisual
program that integrates three annual exhibits idealized and executed by Universo
Produção in Minas Gerais state in different and complementary ways – Tiradentes Cinema Exhibit
(in January, focused on contemporary production), CineOP Exhibit (in Ouro Preto, July, centered
on the preservation with the goal of spreading the audiovisual as inheritance) and CINEBH Exhibit
(which contextualizes the audiovisual in exchange with the world, in Belo Horizonte, October).
The entire programming is offered to the public for free.
