onore alle diverse anime linguistiche che compongono il dipartimento) e adotta un sistema di doppio referaggio
anonimo.

Ogni volume includerà articoli e recensioni. Non è prevista una lunghezza massima per gli articoli, ma si
suggerisce che abbiano lunghezza compresa tra le 10 e le 25 pagine. Le recensioni devono avere lunghezza
compresa tra le 2 e le 10 pagine.
2 Per ciascun volume, ogni autore potrà inviare non più di un contributo e una recensione. Potranno essere
accettati solo contributi inediti e che non siano contemporaneamente stati inviati ad altre riviste per
accettazione. L’originalità del contributo verrà valutata tramite appositi sistemi antiplagio, prima di essere

Il Potere, nelle sue manifestazioni più o meno dispotiche, ha sempre usato la delegittimazione come strumento
politico di censura, per disinnescare idee contrarie al regime o per condizionare l’opinione pubblica. Di fronte al
Potere e alle sue diverse manifestazioni, da sempre esistono, però, anche molteplici forme di opposizione o
dissenso, più o meno palesi, più o meno aggressive: in molte di esse, la delegittimazione si insinua come
discorso virulento, teso a erodere pazientemente e alacremente i pilastri sui quali si poggia l’autorità costituita,
attingendo volentieri a un ampio ventaglio di strategie argomentative e dotandosi delle più affinate armi
retoriche. Con l’unico obiettivo di scardinare dalle fondamenta un sistema dominante (politico, istituzionale,
morale, religioso, culturale, ecc.), o almeno di perturbarne gli equilibri, il discorso delegittimante può rivolgersi a
chi ne è ritenuto vittima, nel tentativo di arruolarlo nelle fila della dissidenza o di carpirne una complicità
intellettuale; oppure può indirizzarsi verso chi detiene il potere o lo esegue, lo rappresenta, lo perpetua. Tra
dimostrazione e invettiva, attraverso il filtro dell’ironia, della satira, l’insinuazione, o passando per il linguaggio
grave dell’accusa, le identità interdette (siano esse individuali, collettive, di persone o di pensiero) e l’autorità
si confrontano, rappresentandosi in forme oscure e minacciose, per dimostrare l’illegittimità e, perciò,
l’inaccettabilità dell’altro. Nel secondo numero di Krypton ci si propone di indagare, attraverso i contributi
originali dei collaboratori, le varie forme della delegittimazione secondo differenti prospettive disciplinari o in
un’ottica interdisciplinare. L’arco cronologico di riferimento è quello dell’età moderna e contemporanea (secoli
XVI-XXI), mentre i contesti politici e culturali quelli dei paesi dell’area romanza europea ed extraeuropea.
Gli articoli, redatti in una delle lingue previste da Krypton (francese, inglese, italiano, portoghese, romeno,

Call for papers: Le tecnologie del ricordo: memoria, oblio L’archivio come dispositivo di accumulazione e
organizzazione della memoria collettiva e individuale sarà l’oggetto di indagine per tutti quei saperi (storiografia,
teoria della rappresentazione letteraria, antropologia, filosofia) che possono contribuire a interrogare i
meccanismi della costruzione, selezione e legittimazione delle memorie. Le enormi possibilità di archiviazione,
proprie di una società dell’informazione come quella in cui viviamo, possono restituirci una mole impressionante
e inaspettata di dati, testimonianze e voci. Eppure il mal d’archivio così come diagnosticato da Derrida è
sempre in agguato: contrarre a dismisura il tempo e lo spazio dell’archivio significa produrre un anarchivio –
caos praticamente innavigabile e indistinguibile di detriti testuali. Se nessuna epoca è stata produttrice di archivi
quanto la nostra (come notava Pierre Nora in Luoghi della Memoria) è anche vero che nessuna epoca quanto la
nostra rischia di diventare succube e suddita di un eccesso di memorie o di memoria non solo letteraria o
storiografica. La possibilità di costruire un archivio (la radicearché sta tanto per “antichità” come per “autorità”)
implica sempre una negoziazione con i processi contrappuntistici della memoria e dell’oblio. Il monografico di
questo numero vuole, dunque, concentrarsi sulle differenti elaborazioni e accumulazioni delle memorie
(storiche, letterarie, orali…) laddove l’archivio non va inteso solo nell’accezione ormai stratificata di supporto e
sistemazione di dati ma rimanda a ogni esperienza, non sempre totalizzabile o rinnovabile come nel caso della
tradizione culturale orale, di conservazione, creazione, organizzazione delle memorie.

The Department of Linguistic and Literary Studies of the University of Padua is organizing the conference
“Pragmatics on the go – Teaching and learning about pragmatics: principles, methods and practices” to be
held in Padua from 17 to 20 June 2013
Conference theme
Over the last 30 years, experts in pragmatics have convincingly pointed out how pragmatic skills are not picked
up intuitively by foreign or second language learners, even after intensive exposure to and practice in the
language, and how the development of pragmatic competence strongly benefits from explicit instruction
and training. Yet, so far linguistic pragmatics has not often been the explicit focus of attention in
foreign/second language curriculum planning and design.
This conference aims to bring together linguists and teachers active in pragmatics and related disciplinary fields
(e.g. sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, conversation analysis, language education, communication
studies) to share experiences and discuss proposals regarding approaches to the teaching and learning of
linguistic pragmatics in the context of second/foreign language education.

• Contributions:
5 The programme will consist of full papers, work-in-progress reports and posters. Full papers will be 20 minutes
long plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion; work-in-progress reports will be 10 minutes long plus 5
minutes for questions and discussion. Posters will be presented in a special session. Proposals for preconference workshops are also welcome.
• Languages of the conference:
English, French, Spanish, Italian and German. (However, all presenters will be asked to prepare their PPT
slides and/or handouts in English.)
Call for abstracts
• We invite the submission of abstracts addressing all aspects of the teaching and learning of pragmatics. These
include, but are by no means limited to, the following topics:
- pragmatic competence in the native/dominant language: determining what socio-pragmatic and
pragmalinguistic skills, if any, to develop in learners’ main/native language; using learners’ pragmatic
competence in their main language to develop competence in the second/foreign language
- students’ needs analysis: identifying students’ own learning goals in the second/foreign language;
- teachers’ needs analysis: locating, selecting, adapting and sharing resources; networking among linguists and
language teachers
- teacher training: empowering language teachers to acquire the competence necessary to teach about
linguistic pragmatics
- syllabus design: discussing the topics in theoretical pragmatics, and the competences and skills in language
use, which should become part of a standard foreign/second language curriculum
- approaches to teaching pragmatics: comparing methods for teaching and learning pragmatics
- pragmatics and language proficiency: selecting the types of pragmatic knowledge, competence and skills that
are desirable for different levels of language proficiency
- testing of pragmatics: methods in the qualitative and quantitative assessment of learners’ pragmatic
competence
- pragmatics for linguists vs. language teachers/learners: bridging the gap between scholars and language
teachers: making theoretical knowledge of pragmatics directly relevant to language teaching and learning,
and letting language teachers/learners’ needs and goals inform pragmaticians’ research
- pragmatics and other branches of linguistics: identifying the communicative functions performed through the
prosodic, morphological, syntactic resources of the foreign/second language
- pragmatics for conversation: approaches to raising awareness of the initiating and reacting communicative
strategies of spoken interaction.
- pragmatic competence in genre use: approaches to raising awareness of the socio-pragmatic and
pragmalinguistic features of specific genres across different languages
- pragmatics and grammar: identifying the grammatical topics necessary to develop linguistic, pragmalinguistic
and sociopragmatic competences
- pragmatics for specific purposes: identifying and developing the pragmatic skills required by specific
professions (e.g. translators)
- pragmatics databases: compiling, designing and tagging corpora for research on and/or the teaching of
pragmatics

• To submit your contribution, prepare two files, in English, one with your abstract, the other with your personal

TRANSLATIONS OF ECONOMIC TEXTS INTO AND FROM EUROPEAN LANGUAGES

The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pisa promotes an international conference
on “Translations of economic texts into and from European languages”. The aim of the conference is to
stimulate research on the international circulation of economic ideas through translations and adaptations of
economic texts. The conference marks the final step of an European research project entitled “Economics etranslations into and from European Languages: an online platform (EE-T)”, an LLP/Erasmus multilateral project
funded by the European Union.
The international circulation of economic ideas was fostered since the 18thcentury by a wealth of translations of
economic texts into various European and non-European languages. These translations were performed both
as individual initiatives and as part of more systematic publishing initiatives such as specialised series of
economic texts, digests, handbooks, etc. Sometimes they were part and parcel of a strategy of importation of
economic ideas promoted by or groups of intellectuals as elements of a strategy of modernisation of politics and
society.
Translations were adapted not only to different national social and economic contexts but also to political and
institutional contexts. The history of translations of economic text is therefore an important element of the history
of the institutionalisation and dissemination of economics.
From a technical viewpoint, adaptation was performed through para-textual apparatuses: prefaces and
introductions, comments, additions, omissions, footnotes, appendices, etc. Furthermore, the translation and
adaptation of economic texts implied creative work of linguistic innovation, often performed through calques and
loanwords. Linguistic studies analyse translations in general, and specifically economic translations, as
instrument to communicate and impose the ideology of a dominant group, or to substitute the ideology of a
group with that of another. In this perspective, the study of semantic and formal neologisms is very important
because the diachronic perspective allows the study of words variation.
Furthermore, the language of political economy has been one of the basic traits of the European public debate
since the 18th century and an essential element of the construction of Europe and its identity. There is a need to
build a sense of European belonging based on historical knowledge, and acknowledging how economic texts
circulated, were transformed and adapted to different cultural contexts, how they were debated and applied, is
essential to answer this need.
The Conference welcomes papers and proposed sessions on all subjects related to the translation of economic
text from the point of view of the history of economics, linguistic history, and the history of the European identity.
The Conference will also create an opportunity to share and debate the scientific and educational results of the
EE-T project, such as its research outcomes, its online database and platform, its editions of economic e-texts,
and its educational tools such as guides to the analysis of economic translations and online lectures.
To submit a proposal please send an abstract of about 400 words for a paper and/or a proposal of about 600
words for a session (together with the abstracts of the session papers) no later than the 30th April 2013 to:
