Greetings,
Last Saturday we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, conferred on 31 candidates. They had participated in a
retreat directed by two seminarians, Jason Brilhante, from the Diocese of Fall River and Jerry Souza from the Archdiocese of Boston. Although they weren’t with us last year, we have the good fortune to have young men in formation for
Priesthood at St. John Seminary who share their time with us and also augment their formation with this pastoral work.
This year we will yet again have two young men with us, teaching in the Confirmation program and also assisting in
other ministries. Please pray for them and for more vocations to the priesthood. Please also pray for our young men
and women confirmed this weekend that God may guide them in their journey with Christ in ministry from their baptism, which should continue with more strength and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
As October is the month of Our Lady, and also the final apparition of the Virgin in Fátima, it is always a pleasure to have
the image of Our Lady more visible in the sanctuary. The cover of the bulletin is a photo taken of Pope Benedict on his
recent trip to Fatima. As always, the traditional Procession of Candles will occur on October 13 th, Wednesday, after the
6:30 p.m. Mass. October 12th is also the Day of Nossa Senhora Aparecida. The Brazilian Community will commemorate
this by a Procession on Sunday, October 10 th at7:00 p.m. followed by Mass. Please don’t forget the Annual Banquet,
which takes place on October 23. There are still a few tables available. Please contact Eduardo Sousa or Mariazinha
Sousa or Teresinha at the rectory.
Please make plans to join us for the celebration in honor of Saint Martin and also our traditions, we will have a Social of
Saint Martin on November 13th at 7:00 p.m. This will be a sampling of home-made wines, sweet bread and chestnuts. I
am asking that gentlemen who make their own wines increase the quantity by a bottle or two. I also ask that women
who make Massa Sovada to make some extra for this day. It’s already been quite a successful casual gathering of friends
and parishioners in just the past two years. The committee will be meeting and more information will be forthcoming.
The previous week, November 6th is the Parish Bazaar. Don’t forget that we are always looking for items for the Bazaar.
Please bring items, in good condition, to the rectory for use in the bazaar. Please look here in the bulletin for more information regarding this and other parish events.

Sábado passado, celebramos o Sacramento da Confirmação conferido a 31 candidatos. No anterior fim de semana eles
participaram num retiro dirigido por dois jovens seminaristas, Jason Brilhane da Diocese de Fall-River e Jerry Souza da
Diocese de Boston. Mesmo não participando do programa este ano passado, nós somos afortunados com a determinação
ao serviço e formação sacerdotal. Este ano e muito em breve conheceremos os dois seminaristas assinados a participar
no nosso programa de Confirmação e também a outros serviços pastorais. Por favor rezem por eles e para que haja mais
vocações sacerdotais. Rezem também pelos jovens confirmados este fim de semana para que Deus os guie na sua
jornada com Cristo desde o Baptismo, o qual deve continuar mais forte e inspirado pelo Espiritio Santo.
Como Outubro é o mês de Nossa Senhora e das últimas aparições da Virgem Fátima, é sempre um prazer ter a imagem
visível no Santuário da Igreja. E como é tradição nossa, haverá a Procissão de Velas no dia 13 de Outubro, Quarta-Feira
logo após à Missa das 6:30PM. A fotografia na capa do buletim foi tirada na peregrinação do Santo Padre, Bento XVI na
sua viagem este ano a Fátima. No dia 12 de Outubro é também o dia de Nossa Senhora Aparecida. A comunidade
Brazileira comemorará este dia com uma Procissão no Domingo, dia 10 de Outubro às 7:00PM. Com Missa a seguir.
Por favor não se esqueçam de partticipar no nosso Banquete Annual, que será no dia 23 de Outubro, ainda há bilhetes à
venda, por favor contacte o Senhor Eduardo Sousa, Mariazinha ou Teresinha na reitoria da paróquia.
Por favor façam já os vossos planos e marquem nos vossos calendários a Festa de São Martinho, que já se torna tradição
nossa aqui na paróquia, com apenas dois anos de existência mas com grande sucesso. Será no dia 13 de Novembro às
7:00PM, no salão paroquial, Prova de vinhos caseiros, boa massa sovada e ricas castanhas à disposição de todos. Peço
desde já a todos os senhores e as senhoras que doam dos seus vinhos e massa que aumentem a sua quantidade de vinho
por uma ou duas garrafas a mais assim como a massa. A comissão terá a sua primeira reunião muito em breve. A
semana antes é o Bazaar Paroquial, dia 6 de Novembro. Não se esqueça de que precisamos de artigos, em boa condição
para o bazaar. Faça favor de trazer para a reitoria qualquer coisa que poderia ser usada. Por favor preste a tenção ao

Here is the Annual Parish Financial Report or Statement of Operating Expenses. The Parish Finance Council will be
looking at this more closely with me as we plan and budget for the future. It looks great that we are in the plus of
$79,201 dollars. While we may take delight in the fact of the Net Income, it is important to realize that our income for
the parking lot lease is $89,760. This means that we cannot become complacent but must work to increase our own
efforts at raising the income of the parish. There are only a couple of years left on the lease and the company which is
leasing it could withdraw. While I don’t like being pessimistic I must also be realistic. I ask for your cooperation as
we, as a parish, look at ways to increase our income. Sincerest thanks and blessings for your generosity in support of
this, your parish.
Aqui esta o relatório anual financeiro da paróquia. O concelho finaceiro trabalalhará diligentemente comigo para que
no futuro possamos entregar contas mais concretas e favoráveis. Estou satisfeito com o resultado das receitas de $79,
201.00 dólares. Embora nos possamos alegrar com este resultado, nós não podemos deixar de pensar que grande parte
deste aumente veio da renda do parque de estacionamento que nos rende por ano $89,760 dólares e que o mesmo dentro de dois anos possa até nem existir visto que o contracto está a terminar e não sabemos se irão renovar ou não. Não
gosto de ser pessimista, mas tenho de admitir que isto pode vir a acontecer. Então é preciso trabalharmos juntos para
podermos aumentar a nossa colecta anual e podermos sustentar todas as despesas paroquiais. Um sincero agradecimento pelo esforço generoso que têm feito até hoje e muitas bençãos para que possam aumentar esta generosidade
para com a vossa paróquia.

During the month of October we will be learning all about
the ―rosary.‖ On October 7 we celebrate the memorial of
Our Lady of the Rosary. The rosary is a long time Church
and family practice that can help us keep focused on our
faith. while many people pray the Rosary kneeling or
seating in church, it can also be prayed anywhere, anytime, with others or by ourselves-even when we're in bed
falling asleep.

When we pray the Rosary, we need to think about the
mysteries of faith with each decade we pray, each event in
the life of Jesus, Mary and the early church. try to visualize the scene, picturing it in your mind and think about
how it relates to your daily life. Talk to God about it, with
praise and thanks for God's gifts to you. The Rosary offers
us a time of quiet listening to God's quiet and gentle
voice. Sometimes praying the Rosary is hard, but the help
of our family we can find that special time to pray and let
us be carried on by the Rosary to a place of peace and
love.
Saturday, October 23rd—
Catechetical Congress at the Lantana in Randolph, MA
Everyone is invited to participate in the annual Catechetical Congress. Registrations are now available through
the Religious Education Office until October 15th. Cost
per person is $30.00. The day includes inspiring and faith
-knowledge workshops, outstanding guest speakers and
an opening prayer by Archbishop Sean O'Malley.
Car pooling is also available.
RCIA - Rite of Christina Initiation for Adults
On October 13, after the 6:30PM daily Mass, we will have
a candlelight procession. You are all invited to come and
participate in the procession as we walk along the streets
of our community praying the Rosary and sharing a peace
of our faith with our neighborly friends.
Religious Education Classes for adults in Portuguese and
in English starts on Tuesday, September 28, at 7:00PM at

final visitation of Our Lady at Fatima with our annual
candlelight procession. Mass will be celebrated at 6:30pm
followed by the procession through the streets of our
neighborhood. Please join us for this special evening of
prayer and devotion to our Lady of Fatima!
Na Quarta-feira, 13 de Outubro, a nossa comunidade
celebrará a última aparição de Nossa Senhora em Fátima
com a nossa procissão de velas. A Missa será celebrada às

Hall for a Dance and Fundraiser sponsored

Celebrations in September 2010
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
All are welcome, invited and encouraged to stop by the
chapel each Wednesday from 9:30am until 6:30pm for
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. In addition, there
will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every First
Friday of the month from 5:00pm until 6:30pm. Please
come and spend some quiet time with the Lord.
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated each month in
English on the 3rd Sunday & in Portuguese on the 4th
Sunday at 2:00pm in the afternoon. The next scheduled
dates of baptism are:
Sunday, October 10—Baptismal Class at 2:00pm
Sunday, October 17—Baptism at 2:00pm (English)
Sunday, October 24 —Baptism at 2:00pm (Port.)

A Igreja encoraja todos os doentes, especialmente os que
se encontram em condições de saúde precárias em suas
casas, nos hospitais ou lares de terceira idade, receberem
a Santa Unção. E serem lembrados em orações que poderá ter lugar na Igreja durante a missa ou em outro
lugar onde o doente fisicamente se encontra. Encorajamos as pessoas responsáveis pelos doentes a não esperar até ao último momento para contactar o Sacerdote.
Baptismos Infantis
O Sacramento do Baptismo é celebrado em Inglês no
terceiro Domingo do mês e em Português no quarto
Domingo do mês. Registo para receber o Sacramento deve
ser feito durante o mês anterior.

to undergo surgery, or who are confined to their home
due to illness to be prayed over & anointed with sacred
oil. This can take place at Mass, at home or at the hospital. Please do not wait for the last moment for yourself or
a loved one to be anointed. Please speak to a priest to
schedule an anointing.

process of spiritual renewal and evangelization that enables people to develop a
closer relationship with Christ, grow in
community, and reach out in service to others. It is divided into 5 seasons, each of which lasts 6 weeks. Each

da Bíblia e na adaptação do Ritual de Iniciação Cristã
para Adultos e no fortalecimento das relações humanas
e pessoais das comunidades paroquias. São
apresentadas em 5 etapas cada uma com duração de 6
semanas baseados nos temas do evangelho.
