A sua carreira passa por diversos meios
desde a arquitectura, ópera e cozinha. Como
encenador e cenógrafo criou What Next? (2006),
ópera de Elliot Carter conduzida por James
Levine, a qual foi filmada e teve estreia no
Museu de Arte Moderna. Seguem-se tantas
outras como as mais recentes Le Grand Macabre (2010) e The Cunning Little
Vixen (2011), ambas com Alan Gilbert a conduzir a New York Philharmonic,
recebidas com grande aclamação.
Douglas Fitch é metade da dupla Orphic Feasts com Mimi Oka, é também
conhecido pelo seu livro Organs of Emotion.
As suas excêntricas performances e instalações já passaram por todo o
mundo: Green Gallery Williamsburg (Nova Iorque), ART Foundation Gallery
Tokyo (Japão),Deutsches Museum Bonn (Alemanha), Decordova Museum
(Massachusetts), Neotu Gallery (França), Center George Pompidou Paris
