FORM 4 IGCSE GEOGRAPHY FIELD TRIP TO LOCAL PARKS – Thursday 26th February 2015
On Thursday February 26, Form 4 pupils doing IGCSE Geography will visit three local parks to collect data
for their coursework project (27.5% of their overall IGCSE mark). This project will look at public leisure and
recreational facilities in São Paulo. Pupils will be mapping the land use and facilities in the three parks, as
well as conducting short interviews with park users, to summarise their views on the amount of green
space and recreational facilities on offer in the city. The parks to be visited will be Ibirapuera, Burle Marx
and the Jardins Botânico.
The trip is being organised in conjunction with Chão Nosso, the agency the school regularly uses to
organise fieldtrips. The group will be led by myself and also accompanied by Miss Devine and Mr de
Oliveira, as well as monitors from Chão Nosso. The trip cost is included in the fees.
We will travel by private bus to and from school and will have a packed lunch (provided by school) in the
Jardins Botânico. Pupils should bring a bottle of water, as well as a camera (photographs of the parks
should be included in the project). Casual clothes should be worn but pupils will need proper
trainers/walking shoes, a sun hat, sunscreen and rainproof jacket/umbrella. Very short shorts or revealing
tops are not permitted.
We will be leaving school at 08.30 and returning at 16.30. On arrival at school in the morning, pupils should
go to normal registration and then gather in the Covered Area before our departure.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: It is vital that parents make sure the medical information we hold about
your child is up-to-date and contains all the relevant information for going on this school journey.

Please remember that during the Field Trip the students will be representing St. Paul’s and we will be
expecting them to behave responsibly the entire time.

It must be emphasised that, as well as being an exciting experience for your son or daughter they
will be representing St. Paul’s School. It is imperative that the pupils understand the need to abide
by instructions to ensure their own safety and the smooth running of this Field Course. Should
pupils decide not to abide by these expectations then the possibility exists that they may be
returned home at the parents’ expense. We would be grateful if you could reinforce this message
