2014 Junior Golf Programs Eligibility & Dress Code Open to all juniors ages 6-17. Proper golf attire is required. All golfers must wear golf pants or golf shorts with a collared shirt. Tennis shoes or golf shoes are required. Hats are recommended for hot days. Juniors will be outside, be sure to have plenty of sunblock. . Pull carts are also available to rent and may be purchased inside pro shop. Location All lessons will be offered at Lincoln Hills GC - 2666 West 14 Mile. Golf will be played on both Lincoln Hills and Springdale golf courses. All instruction will be supervised by PGA Teaching Professional, Matt Pesta and golf will be monitored by our Junior Rangers. Additional Golf Juniors who would like to play additional golf at either course may do so with the purchase of a Membership. We have introduced our Junior Membership that allows the Junior to play Monday thru Friday with unlimited green fees. Inquire with Pro Shop staff. Please note, children under 10 may use the courses during twilight golf times when accompanied by a parent with a valid Membership. Eagles Program Some juniors will be required to attend a Rules and Etiquette clinic prior to beginning the program so they have an understanding of what to do while on the golf course. You may register your child at registration for this clinic. Refund Policy If your child is not able to start the program, a refund will be given less 10% of the fee. After the first class, no refund will be given. Emphasis is on learning, etiquette, and FUN with competitive opportunities included. Introducing PGA Teaching Professional, Matt Pesta We would like to welcome Matt Pesta, our PGA Teaching Professional for the City of Birmingham. Matt brings a unique blend of knowledge and skill as a golf instructor. As a PGA member, he has instructed two Professional Tour Card players, has given over 10,000 lessons and he has met many great players and instructors. He has over ten years of experience and he possesses great communication skills with a knack for “bringing the best” out of his students. Knowing the importance of the development of junior golfers, Matt has always taken great effort and pride to promote junior golf through lessons, clinics, summer camps and leagues throughout his teaching career. He is excited to bring his passion to the City of Birmingham in 2014! REGISTRATION: Registration will take place on Saturday - May 3rd at Lincoln Hills GC, located at 2666 West 14 Mile Road, Birmingham - 48009. For your convenience, online registration will also be available at www.golfbirmingham.org under the Instruction Tab. Birmingham Residents and All Current Members Registration Begins at 9 AM - 11 AM Non Residents Registration Begins at 11:30 am - 1:30 pm www.golfbirmingham.org Lincoln Hills - (248) 530-1670 Springdale - (248) 530-1660 “The Birdies” AGES: 6-12 Residents $120 Non-Residents $130 This program is structured for children with little or no golf experience. Basic swing fundamentals will be taught in a fun and learning environment. Group lessons will consist of approximately 10-12 children per 1 hour session which will meet for 7 consecutive weeks. A basic set of equipment will be required for each student, to include a putter, 9-iron and/ or 7-iron, and driver or 3-wood. If you child will need clubs, we will take those request at registration on May 3rd. SELECTION OF CLASSES: Monday B1 1:30 pm B2 4:00 pm Tuesday B3 11:00 am B4 5:00 pm B5 6:30 pm “The Eagles” AGES: 9-17 Residents $215 Non-Residents $240 This program is designed for students who have some experience playing and want to improve their skills. Basic fundamentals will be taught in a structured format with an emphasis on learning certain swing elements in grip, stance, posture & balance, chipping, ball-striking, and putting on a weekly basis. Group lessons will consist of approximately 10-12 children per 1 hour session which will meet for 7 consecutive weeks. Also included will be 8 prearranged weekly tee times for playing golf with other students. These activities will be on 2 different days and the juniors should have a basic set of equipment. Please note, Make-ups for instruction are available at other classes on the schedule and we will also do make-ups during the week of Aug 4th 7th, and need to be arranged with Matt Pesta. Make-ups for golf, are available on the designated days of play and need to be arranged with pro shop.
