The earliest that greater rain might impact a part of southern Sul de Minas, Rio de Janeiro and northeastern Sao Paulo after
today will be during the weekend of September 17- 18 at which time rainfall may vary from 8 to 25 millimeters with a few
greater amounts near the coast. Confidence in the precipitation is low, however.
Most daily high temperatures in the next ten days will be in the lower 20s to lower 30s from Parana to southern Sul de Minas
while varying in the upper 20s to middle 30s further north. Extreme highs of 35 to 38 will occur from northern Minas Gerais to
central Bahia. Lowest morning temperatures will be in the range of 10 to 14 from Parana to Sul de Minas and 13 to 19 further
north. Some extreme nighttime temperatures will slip to a few upper single digits in the traditionally coolest areas of southern
Sul de Minas to readings over 20 in northern and eastern Bahia.

A few showers producing up to 4 millimeters of rain occurred in portions of Minas Gerais Thursday. Most coffee areas
continued dry and warm. High temperatures were in the lower to middle 30s Celsius from northern portions of Sul de Minas to
central Bahia. An extreme high of 37 degrees occurred in northern Minas Gerais while many readings from there northward to
central Bahia ranged from 34 to 37. In contrast, high temperatures in southern Sul de Minas, northeastern Sao Paulo and Rio
de Janeiro were in the upper 20s and lower 30s while southwestern Sao Paulo and Parana reported highs in the lower 20s.
Not much precipitation of significance is expected in coffee production areas during the next week, although totally dry weather
is not expected. Showers will occur periodically, but daily rainfall will vary from 1 to 6 millimeters most often with an erratic
distribution. There is potential for northeastern Sao Paulo, extreme southern Sul de Minas and southern Rio de Janeiro to
receive 5 to 20 millimeters of rain during the coming week, but the precipitation will be spread out over multiple days
minimizing the impact. No flowering is expected. Many of the most significant showers will occur today. Some coastal showers
are also expected in eastern Bahia and Espirito Santo, but rain in coffee and cocoa areas will not be significant. A few coastal
areas will receive more than 20 millimeters over the coming week.
