In Duo Seraphim, two angels proclaim the glory of God, soon joined by the heavenly throng. This piece has a
number of inspirations and ideas behind it. A representation of celestial harmony, a cacophony of angels, the
flapping of many wings, and joyful exuberance in a place where all is as it should be!
Composed for the Lumina Vocal Ensemble's 2010 Adelaide Fringe Festival Concert Angels vs Demons, Duo
Seraphim is partly inspired by Renaissance composers and compositions including Victoria, Gombert,
Monteverdi and Lotti. Ideally the work should be performed by a large choir in a resonant acoustic.
Duo Seraphim
Two seraphim cried to one another:
Holy is the Lord God of Sabaoth.
The whole earth is full of his glory.
There are three who bear witness in heaven:
the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit:
and these three are one.
