Rio 2016 Olympic Torch Relay arrivesin Alto Parnaiba, State of Minas Gerais The Olympic Flame will pass throughthe towns of Uberaba, Araxa, Serra do Salitre, Patrocinio and Pato de Minas ThisSunday, 8 May, the Rio 2016 Olympic Torch Relay leaves Uberaba in the Triangulo Mineiro, heading for the Alto Parnaibaregion and visiting the towns of Araxa, Serra do Salitre, Patrocinio and Patode Minas. On this 450-km leg, 90torchbearers will take part. . In Uberaba, the relay will pass through Manoel Terra Square, thelocation of the Church of Saint Rita which houses the Municipal ReligiousArt Museum, a must-see for tourists. A monument paying tribute to theOlympic Torch will be inaugurated. The relay will end its visit in the Av.Leopoldino de Oliveira Square. . Araxa is one of the spa towns on the Circuito das Águas (Circuit of the Waters) in the state ofMinas Gerais, well-known for the diverse therapeutic properties of itswaters and medicinal muds. TheOlympic Flame will pass in front of the Mirante do Cristo (Belvedere of Christ) with its panoramicview over part of the town. The relay will end its visit in ArthurBernardes Square. Along the route through the town, the local communityhave organised activities based on historical themes, featuring childrenin period costume and a demonstration of traditional sweet-making. Balloonswill be released along the route. . In Serra do Salitre, the relay will begin its visit at the Raul deMelo Municipal School. The town hall has organised cultural activities atvarious points on the relay route, including capoeira (martial art), congado Afro-Brazilian dance and a fanfare orchestra. The flame will end itsvisit to the town in Dr. José Walderley Square, where a replica of theOlympic Torch will be inaugurated. . Patrocinio lies within an important coffee-producing region. It isalso known for its historic farms, water falls and motocross circuits. TheRio 2016 Olympic Torch Relay will pass in front of the Church of Saint Luzia, a fine example of colonial architecture in the town centre, frontedby a beautiful illuminated fountain. . Pato de Minas isthe last town to welcome the Olympic Torch, and the end of the day’sjourney. The relay will begin in Avenida Major Gotze and at the end of theday, the Olympic Pyre will be lit in the Rural Producers’ Depot, near the LagoaGrande (Great Lake), with a show by the band Jammil e Uma Noites. On a basketball court in the district of Cristavo,amateur players and athletes from the UINIPAM/DB team will give anexhibition of wheelchair basketball for residents, and will receive theOlympic Torch, which will be carried by wheelchair basketball player Leonardode Souza. The flame will be taken by boat across the Lagoa Grande to theceremony venue. The Olympic Torch will also pass in front of the SantoAntonio Cathedral. Lilyene Pinheiro Conceição was brought up in the rural area of Pato de Minas but left herfamily and country life in order to study. She is a biologist and works inbreast cancer prevention and treatment. Lilyene was invited by theCoca-Cola sponsorship to run with the Olympic Torch in Pato de Minas. Alfredo Moser createdthe Moser Lamp in 2002, using a plastic bottle, water and bleach torefract sunlight, taking advantage of natural light to illuminate indoorenvironments. The lamp does not give off carbon gas and its intensity isapproximately equivalent to a 60-Watt bulb.It is simple to make using a 2-litreplastic bottle filled with water and just two capfuls of bleach. This ideais already a winner in over 15 countries. Alfredo was invited by theNissan sponsorship to carry the Olympic Torch in Uberaba. Ana Claudia Borges was the2004 Brazilian taekwondo champion and also competes in cycling. Last year, she took the Minas Gerais State cycling title. Ana Claudia will run withthe Olympic Torch in Araxa at the invitation of the Bradesco sponsorship. José Rodrigues is a ParalympicTeam Brazil athlete and javelin thrower. He came first in the 2015 São Paulo Open, fourth in the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games and took silverin the Doha (Qatar) World Championships last year. He will run with theOlympic Torch in Uberaba. The company has produced cars at itsRenault Nissan Alliance plant in São José dos Pinhais, State of Parana, since2002, and invested R$ 2.6 billion in building its own Industrial Complex in theState of Rio de Janeiro. The industrial plant was inaugurated in April 2014 andhas the capacity to produce 200,000 cars and 200,000 engines per year. Terms of Use Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHBs): RHBs may broadcast the Olympic torch relay in Brazil, on a nonexclusive basis, in accordance with the terms of their respective media rights agreement with the IOC. Non-Rights Holding Broadcasters (Non-RHBs): Non-RHBs may broadcast the Olympic torch relay in Brazil (with the exclusion of the opening and closing ceremonies), on a non-exclusive basis, for a maximum of 24 hours after the event. Any such broadcast must be positioned as news only and not to create, or be positioned as, Olympic torch relay focused programming. No commercial/promotional association is permitted with the coverage of the Olympic torch relay. In particular, broadcast of the Olympic torch relay may not (i) be sponsored or otherwise be associated in any way to give the impression that Non-RHBs and/or any unauthorized entities and/or products are linked to or associated to the Olympic torch relay, the Olympic Games, the IOC and/or the Olympic Movement and (ii) imply, suggest or represent Non-RHBs as being official rights holding broadcasters and/or partners of the Olympic torch relay, the Olympic Games, the IOC and/or the Olympic Movement. Opening and Closing ceremonies: The part of the torch relay occurring during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games is part of the exclusive rights granted to RHBs and any broadcast by Non-RHBs must comply with the IOC News Access Rules.
