Course Description:
This course aims at providing students with basic knowledge of the main issues in the theory of
industrial organization, and to acquaint them with the most widespread models used in this field. The
lectures will try to combine analytical rigor with intuitions and also with the discussion of some examples
from real world situations.

Biography:
Helder Vasconcelos is full professor at the Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Porto (FEP),
Member of the Board of ANACOM – Autoridade Nacional das Comunicações and Research Affiliate at
the Centre of Economic Policy Research (CEPR, London). He obtained his PhD from the European
University Institute, in 2002. He was previously associate professor at Universidade Católica
Portuguesa (2007-2011), assistant professor at Università Bocconi (2003-2007) and post-doctoral
research fellow at the Institut D’Economie Industrielle (IDEI), University of Toulouse (2002-2003).
