Set in beautiful Silicon Valley, California (the high-tech capital of the
world); the Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) is a showcase
of seasoned and emerging filmmakers from the African continent
whose works reflect the true stories, hopes and dreams of Africa.
The mission of the Festival is to promote an understanding and
appreciation of Africa and Africans through moving images.

CALL FOR ENTRY:
If you are an African filmmaker with an artistic vision and voice, this is your festival. Our
seasoned industry staff and partners will provide you an opportunity and a platform to
showcase your film, network and build relationships that will last a lifetime.
How to enter your film:
q Read Regulations and Requirements.
q Fill out and sign the ENTRY FORM.
q Enclose a completed and signed entry form with your DVD. You can also email a
completed form to us and send your DVD by mail or give us a link to watch your film
online.
q NO ENTRY FEE REQUIRED
q Depending on availability of funds, SVAFF may provide travel subsidies to
filmmakers who will like to attend the festival, including accommodation and
ground transportation.

ENTRY RULES & REGULATIONS
Entry Deadline: 1st August, 2016
SCREENINGS:
If selected; filmmakers authorize Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) to conduct
screenings during the Silicon Valley African Film Festival, African Cinema Café Series and
Africa in the Classroom Film Series.
MARKETING AND PUBLICITY:
If selected, filmmakers will provide the following materials no later than September 1, 2016
to SVAFF:
q Digital images
q Press Kits
q DVD media screeners of the film or an electronic copy if available
q A picture and short bio/filmography of the director
FILM FORMATS AND SHIPMENT:
SUBMISSION FORMAT:
q Films must be submitted on DVD for qualification. We can only accept REGION 1 or
0 (Region-free) DVDs.
q Discs should not include labels or stickers of any kind: only laser printed artwork, if
any, should be on the disc itself. Please write your Project Title and Contact number
on the disc.
FESTIVAL SCREENING FORMAT:
The Silicon Valley African Film Festival will only screen films in one of the following formats:
q Blu-Ray
q DVD (Region 1 or 0)
q High Resolution electronic formats are acceptable
By submitting ________________________________________________ (film title), the undersigned
warrants that s/he has the right to submit and exhibit the above-indicated film during SVAFF and
will indemnify and hold harmless the Silicon Valley African Film Festival, its director, trustees, staff,
presenting partners, and sponsors against any and all claims arising out of SVAFF’s exhibition and
promotion of said film should such a film be programmed as part of the 2016 Silicon Valley
African Film Festival, African Cinema Café Series and Africa in the Classroom Film Series. Should
my film be selected, I agree to allow SVAFF, if needed to excerpt a short segment (no more than
3 minutes) of my film for the festival’s promotional trailer.
