explicit homophobic content from Hip-Hop, Black
Metal, Reggae, and other musical genres, arranged
into a new composition. The lyrics range from
simple insults to calls for the murder of gay men.

Streams of text, consisting of subtitles from
various Hollywood films, are projected across
the floor and the ceiling of the exhibition space.
The upper projection contains strips of monologues promising redemption, below are the
passionate utterances of stereotypically evil
figures. The characters stem from different
films but are impersonated by the same actors,
e.g., Willem Dafoe as Jesus Christ in The Last
Temptation of Christ (1988) and as the Green
Goblin in Spider-Man (2002).

A spotlight illuminates an empty space on the
floor of the gallery while a monotonous voice
keeps repeating the words “no thing”. After
several minutes the spotlight slowly fades away.
That process is accompanied by a change in the
way the speaker stresses the words – so that
by the time the room is completely dark he says
“nothing”. The process is then reversed.

Every year a poster is produced documenting all deaths in the Federal
Republic of Germany based on data from the Federal Office of
Statistics. The classifications – cause of death, sex, and age – are
preserved. The poster for each particular year is named after
deceased individuals who were personally known to the artist. These
are discretely marked on the list.
