Auswahl 10 Das Aargauer Kunsthaus und
das Aargauer Kuratorium präsentieren zum
Jahresende die Auswahl 10. Die traditionelle
Jahresausstellung der Aargauer Künstler/innen bietet einen Überblick über das aktuelle und
vielseitige Kunstschaffen im Kanton Aargau.
Die Jahresausstellung gibt Künstler/innen aus der Region die Möglichkeit, ihre
Arbeiten zu präsentieren. Aargauer Künstler/innen können sich um die Teilnahme bewerben.
Eine Fachjury trifft sich jedes Jahr im Oktober,
um die eingegangenen Werke zu beurteilen.
Dieses Jahr haben insgesamt 206 Künstler/innen und Künstlergruppen ihr Dossier eingereicht. 57 davon wurden von der Jury eingeladen, ihre Werke in der Jahresausstellung
Auswahl 10 zu zeigen.
Anlässlich der Vernissage vom
3. Dezember 2010 gibt das Aargauer Kuratorium die Beiträge an das künstlerische
Schaffen Bildende Kunst bekannt. Gleichzeitig
verleiht die Neue Aargauer Bank ihren alljährlichen Förderpreis an eine/n junge/n Künstler/in.

Auswahl 10 At the end of the year the
Aargauer Kunsthaus and the Aargauer Kuratorium present their Auswahl 10. This traditional annual exhibition of Aargau artists offers
a survey of the wide range of current art
practices in the Canton of Aargau.
The annual exhibition provides an
opportunity for local artists to present their
work. Any artist living in or coming from the
Canton of Aargau can apply to be included
in the exhibition. Each year in October a jury
made up of experts convenes to judge
the submitted works. This year, a total of 206
artists have submitted their files. 57 artists,
some of them working collaboratively, were
invited by the jury to present their works
in the annual Auswahl 10 exhibition.
At the exhibition opening on
3 December 2010, the Aargauer Kuratorium will
award its grants for work in the visual arts.
At the same time the Neue Aargauer Bank will
present its annual advancement award to a
young artist.

An illustrated booklet with a list of
works and the jury report of the
Aargauer Kuratorium, as well as
with a contribution by Christoph
Gossweiler, guest artist of
Auswahl 10, will be published in
conjunction with the exhibition.
Gast: Christoph Gossweiler Christoph
Gossweiler (*1950) ist ein vielseitig arbeitender
Künstler: Seine Arbeit pendelt zwischen
totalem Bildentzug und «visueller Unterhaltung».
Mit seinen monochromen Bildern gehört er
ins Umfeld der radikalen und konzeptuellen Malerei. Als Kurator des Freistilmuseums erweitert
er mit Rückgriffen auf die Populärkultur allzu enge
Kunst- und Bildbegriffe. Die zwei Seiten im
Werk von Christoph Gossweiler sind nicht nur
komplementär zu verstehen, sondern verschränken sich oft: Zum Beispiel, wenn die monochrome Malerei durch Anbindung an die Alltagswelt «geerdet» wird oder wenn gefundene
Bilder aus kunstfremden Kontexten unter
ästhetischen Gesichtspunkten betrachtet werden.
Im Rahmen der Auswahl 10 reagiert
Christoph Gossweiler auf eine Raumsituation
der vorangegangenen Ausstellung und interpretiert
diesen Raum mit minimalen Eingriffen neu.
Die Jury bestimmt jeweils im
Rahmen der Auswahl den/die Gastkünstler/in
der Jahresausstellung im nächsten Jahr.
Guest: Christoph Gossweiler As an artist
Christoph Gossweiler (*1950) employs a
versatile approach to his creative work which,
as a result, oscillates between complete
denial of image content and “visual entertainment.”
His monochrome paintings place him in the
context of radical and conceptual painting. As
curator of the Freistilmuseum he draws on
popular culture to expand notions of art and
image which he perceives as all too narrow.
Rather than merely complementing one another,
the two sides of Christoph Gossweiler’s work
frequently interlock, for instance, when monochrome
painting is “earthed” by tying it to the everyday
world, or when found imagery from a non-art
context is considered from an aesthetic
point of view.
In the Auswahl 10 exhibition Christoph
Gossweiler responds to a spatial situation as
it existed within the previous exhibition, reinterpreting the space in question with minimal
intervention.
In the course of the Auswahl the jury
decides on an artist who is to be invited to
participate as a guest artist in the next annual
exhibition.
