Dear Mari Bersama members, family and friends,
This Newsletter informs you of our activities and events of our Club
of the past half year and the following half of 2015.
This year during the AGM, we held our Election of the Committee,
which takes place every two years.
There are some new faces in the Committee.
Welcome Onboard!
I wish to thank many helpful members and the former committee
for their time and undivided support.
It is your backing, support, and participation that keep the Club moving.

Chinese New Year on 22nd February 2015
This year’s Chinese New Year celebration marks the Year of the Goat and it was held back at the hall of the
Kirchengemeinde, Langefelde. Many guests and children came for this auspicious gathering dressed in
traditional Chinese costumes enjoying the atmosphere. The children did a lovely singing performance
followed by the ladies who sang Chinese New Year songs. We then had food which was partly catered by
our member and others brought different yummy Asian dishes. Peter Lopez, our Club President gave a
speech and Ang Pows were handed to the children. Everyone had a great time mingling and catching up with
each other and the evening ended with a lucky draw. Kudos on another successful event!

Rechenschaftsbericht – Mari Bersama, Jahr 2014
Das Jahr 2014 begann für uns mit dem chinesischen Neujahrsfest. Es war das Jahr der Pferde und
wir feierten es am 2. Februar in dem Mongolei Restaurant in Wandsbek. Viele Mitglieder kamen in
ihren traditionellen Kostümen und weil es das erste Treffen nach Weihnachten und Neujahr war,
nutzten die Mitglieder die Gelegenheit sich auszutauschen. Unser Präsident, Peter Lopez hat einer
Willkommensrede gehalten und „ang pows“ wurden an die Kinder und Jugendlichen verteilt. Es war
ein schöner Tag mit vielem leckeren Essen und netter Gesellschaft.
Unsere Jahreshauptversammlung fand am 29. März in Langenfelde statt. Bei Kaffee und Kuchen
haben wir mit den versammelten Mitgliedern die Agenda und die Tagesordnungspunkte des Klubs
durchgesprochen. Der Anzahl der Anwesenheit war leider nicht wünschenswert und es wäre
empfehlenswert wenn mehr Mitglieder anwesend sind.
Unsere jährliche Grillparty hat der Verein zusammen mit der Hari Raya Feier am 17. August bei
Rahimah gefeiert. Der Verein hat für Essen und Getränke gesorgt. Da es auch eine Hari Raya Feier
war, hat der Verein traditionelles Hari Raya Essen wie Lontong und Kekse wie Ananas Tarts
serviert. Viele Mitglieder waren gekommen, um mit deren traditionellen Kostümen diesen Tag
zusammen zu feiern. Das Wetter war anfangs bewölkt, aber rechtzeitig zum Auftakt hat der Sonne
geschienen. Es war eine gelungene Feier.
Der Singapur Botschafter, HE Herr Jai Sohan hat angekündigt unseren Verein am 3.September zu
besuchen, um das Komitee kennenzulernen. Am 3. September hat der Verein ihn und seine
Begleitung bei Rahimah zum Abendessen eingeladen. Bei authentischen asiatischen Gerichten,
vorbereitet von dem Komitee, haben wir einen netten Abend verbracht.
Das nächste Event war National Day, Merdeka Day und das 20 jährige Jubiläum des Vereins. Das
Komitee hat alle diese Ereignisse kombiniert, und ein großes Event daraus gemacht. Wir haben es
im Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza gefeiert am 7. September. Der Malaysische Honorarkonsul, Datuk
Nordmann konnte nicht dabei sein und deswegen hat Frau Kaminski ihn vertreten und eine kleine
Rede gehalten. Offizielle Gäste von der Malaysischen Botschaft waren auch anwesend und haben
mit dem Verein dieses großen Events, gemeinsam mit 80 Mitgliedern, gefeiert. Es war eine
gelungene Feier und das Komitee hofft, dass der Verein mehrere Jahre weiter bestehen kann, mit
der Unterstützung von den Mitgliedern.

Wir haben das hinduistische Lichterfest ‚DEEPAVALI´ am 25. Oktober in dem Gemeindesaal
Langenfelde gefeiert. Es war eine kleine, gemütliche Feier. Die Mitglieder haben selbst gekochtes
Essen mitgebracht und wir haben diesen Abend mit netter Unterhaltung verbracht. Das Komitee hat
Laternen an die anwesenden Kinder verteilt und wir haben mit den Kindern einen kleinen
Laternenumzug im dem Saal gemacht.
Das war der letzte Termin des Jahres von unserem Club. Unser „Newsletter“ wurde 2-mal gedruckt.
Danke an die Mitglieder und an den Vorstand für deren Artikel und die Mithilfe beim Newsletter.
Wir bedanken uns bei dem Malaysischen Honorarkonsul von Hamburg, Datuk Nordmann für die
Unterstützung, die er uns gegeben hat.

Reopening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Singapore in Hamburg
The reception for the reopening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Singapore in
Hamburg was held on the 22nd May 2015 at the exclusive Anglo-German Club. It was attended by a
few Consuls of different countries as well as some fellow Singaporeans. Mari Bersama Club was
honoured to have received the invitation to meet the new Consul, Mr Dirk Lorenz Meyer.

Canoeing
Our Mari Bersama Club Members, Michelle and Tim van Es, are organising this summer activity on
the 28th June 2015. For more information, please check the website www.kanuvermietungploen.de.
If any of you are interested, please contact Michelle and Tim before 14th June. Please bring your
own drinks and have your breakfast taken before, as no food and drinks are provided. After the
event, the van Es would like to invite you for coffee and cake in their home.

New Malaysian Ambassador to Germany
YBhg. Dato’ Zulkifli bin Adnan
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany
YBhg. Dato’ Zulkifli bin Adnan has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1983. Prior to
his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany, Dato’ Zulkifli
served as Director General of Maritime Department from 2011 to 2015. He served as the
Ambassador of Malaysia to Bosnia Herzegovina from 2008 to 2011.
Dato’ Zulkifli also served at the Embassy of Malaysia in the Hague, Netherlands from 2001 to 2004,
at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to UN in New York, USA from 1993 until 1998 and also at
the High Commission of Malaysia in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 1986 until 1988.
