ADVENTSKRÄNZE/CHRISTMAS WREATHS
In the spirit of the Christmas season, GESM will be selling "Adventskränze"
(Christmas wreaths) to interested families of the German school.
The "Adventskranz" will be sold naturally fresh, undecorated without candles at
PHP500.00 each.
Distribution of the wreaths will start tomorrow, November 29th,
at the GESM Secretariat.
As stocks are limited, you may make your payment directly to
Pearl at the GESM Administration office (Rm. 105).

2. Klasse Visit to Resources for the Blind
Am Dienstag, den 26.11.2013 machten wir, die Klasse 2, einen
Ausflug zu RBI (Resources for the Blind) in Quezon City. Dort
haben wir zusammen mit blinden Vorschulkindern gespielt, und
wir lernten sehr viel über blinde Menschen. Wir erfuhren, dass
die meisten Blinden bei RBI von Geburt an blind sind, z.B. weil
sie zu früh geboren wurden, aber dass Blindheit auch durch
einen Unfall entstehen kann, z.B. wenn man einen besonders
harten Ball oder einen spitzen Stift in sein Auge bekommt. Mila
und Lee von RBI erklärten uns an verschiedenen Materialien,
wie die Blinden lernen können, und wir durften alle Materialien
einmal selbst ausprobieren. Besonders toll fanden wir ein ganz
spezielles Computerprogramm.
On Tuesday, 26th November, Klasse 2 went on a field trip to
RBI (Resources for the Blind) in Quezon City. We played games
with blind preschoolers and we learned a lot about blind
people. Most of the blind at RBI have been blind since birth,
because they were born premature. But some also became
blind through an accident. Mila and Lee from RBI showed us all
sorts of materials and explained to us how blind children can
learn. It was great that we could try out these materials
ourselves. We were very impressed by a special software that
helps the blind use the computer. We typed our names and
the computer read them out to us when we pressed “Enter”.
Most important for learning, however, is Braille, a special
writing system for the blind. We saw how the children at RBI
learn Braille and how books written in Braille are being
produced. At the end we read a sentence in Braille on our
own. It was a great field trip.

anschließend auf „Enter“ tippt,
liest
der
Computer
das
geschriebene Wort vor. So können
Blinde erkennen, ob sie ein Wort
richtig geschrieben haben. Wir
probierten dies mit unseren Namen
aus. Am wichtigsten ist für die
Blinden aber Braille. Das ist eine
Schrift aus Punktmustern, die von
hinten in das Papier gepresst und
mit den Fingerspitzen ertastet
werden kann.
Wir haben gesehen, wie die Kinder
bei RBI Braille lernen und wie
Bücher in der Blindenschrift
hergestellt werden. Zum Schluss
haben wir selbst einen Satz in
Braille gelesen. Es war ein toller
Ausflug.
