Innovationsbüro EIP Agrar Schleswig- Holstein [email protected] OG Animal Genetic Resources "Population Management" Project Goal/Expected Results Small and local populations of old breeds of domestic animals should be preserved in order to ensure long-term genetic diversity. The innovation project works together with the breeders' organizations and farmers to find solutions for small populations, such as for inbreeding management, influence of foreign blood in Angeln and Red Pied Cattle, use of fresh semen in Angeln Saddleback pigs and developed a mating tool especially for small populations. Implementation/Innovations/Measures Pedigree analyses will be carried out and the results promptly passed to the practitioner and breeding organisations involved. In addition, genome-based population parameters are estimated. In order to strengthen the extremely small population, the project seeks to raise genetically suitable animals in a test procedure for the project; these animals may complement the existing animals in pedigree breeding. Planned work packages: SWOT analysis questionnaire and survey Pedigree analysis of Red Pied Cattle, German White-Headed Mutton, German White Edelziege, Anglen Saddleback Pigs, analysis of Red Pied Cattle in DN genotypes, Angeln Cattle, Schleswig Coldblood Horse Analysis of foreign blood percentage in Red Pied Cattle in DN and Angeln Cattle Analysis of Angeln Cattle, Saddleback Pigs, German White-Headed Mutton, Schleswig Coldblood Horse genotypes Sequence analysis Schleswig Coldblood Horse, Red Pied Cattle in DN and Angeln Saddleback Pigs Develop first version of mating tool Lead Partner: Arche Warder Zentrum für alte Haus- und Nutztierrassen e.V.
