VOTER’S ASSEMBLY – SUNDAY, JANUARY 11
There will be a Voter’s Assembly Meeting on Sunday,
January 11 immediately following the 10 AM worship
service. This meeting will include presentation of the
2015 budget for congregational approval. Please mark
your calendars and plan to attend.
THANK YOUS
Pastor, Sharon, Christopher, and Joshua thank the
Immanuel family for the wonderful Christmas gifts they
received from the congregation and individuals. They
were deeply touched by your expressions of love. The
Minetrees give thanks to God for all of you.
Thank you so much for your generous Christmas gift this
year. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by my family
and me. Thank you for your love and support throughout
the year.

ALTAR AND NARTHEX FLOWERS
When you want Altar or Narthex flowers, the procedure is
to call Laura Pickering at (410) 296-2075. Please do not
write on the calendar! Laura needs to know the date you
select and the statement you want to include so that she
can order the flowers for that Sunday. The costs are as
follows: $24 per vase for the Altar; Narthex one-sided
$28 and all-around $34. Pay by cash or check (made
payable to the “Altar Guild”) and give to Laura Pickering in
person or mail checks via the postal service.

IMMANUEL MEMBER, ELSIE JOHNSON TURNS 100
Elsie Anna Stratmann Finn Johnson or Mimi, is turning
100 years old on January 22, 2015. She has been a
member at Immanuel Lutheran for 60 yearsI
Mimi was born on January 22, 1915 in Baltimore,
Maryland and grew up on a farm in Dundalk, Maryland.

She graduated from the University of Maryland College
Park with a teaching degree. She married Paul Finn who
was killed in World War II on April 5, 1945 and received
the Silver star medal. Paul is buried in Lorraine, France at
the American military cemetery.
Mimi spent over 30 years teaching home economics in
the Baltimore County school system. She has lived in the
same home for 60 years.
Mimi has one daughter, three grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR DAY
January 19th is national Martin Luther King Day. Did you
know that Dr. King's work is memorialized in our stained
glad windows? Dr. King's speech given at the
Washington Monument mall can be seen in the north
clerestory window near the front on the nave. This
window was dedicated in 1970. See how many other
notable figures from Christian modern history you can find
in our beautiful stained glass.

Community News
Immanuel will host a meeting with Councilman Bill Henry,
Baltimore Gas and Electric on Tuesday, January 27th at
6pm. BGE will give an update on their plans to build a
new power substation where the shopping center now
stands at Belvedere and Hillen. Since we are
stakeholders in this project, this is important to us too.

Immanuel will host a meeting of current and potential
Baltimore City Police Department chaplains on Tuesday,
January 20th beginning at 10am. Pastor Minetree
currently serves as an internal department chaplain.
Helping Boys Understand is now meeting at Immanuel
Lutheran Church. This program is led by Robert Madden
as is intended to help boys grow into responsible men.
They will be meeting at different times during the week.

BASKET BINGO
Our annual basket bingo is rapidly approaching and we
still need some sponsors and fillers of baskets! Basket
Bingo will be Friday, January 16th at Tall Cedars in
Parkville. The doors open at 6PM and the games start at
7PM. To have a successful basket bingo, we need people
to sponsor and/or fill some baskets. Tickets are also
