BERICHT DES PRÄSIDENTEN
Liebe Mitglieder und Freunde,
Am Freitag, dem 15. Januar war ich
anwesend bei der Generalversammlung des Krankenunterstützungsvereins und des Sterbefonds. Es
wurde bekannt gegeben, dass sich der
Krankenunterstützungsverein auflöst. Ich ermutige
alle Klubmitglieder, unsere Clubgeneralversammlung am Sonntag, dem 20. März zu besuchen
und über zwei Anträge zu dieser Auflösung abzustimmen, die der Mitgliedschaft vorgelegt werden.
Bei der selben Sitzung fanden auch die Wahlen für
den Sterbefond statt. Mathias Wolf wurde zum Präsidenten wiedergewählt, ebenso Oscar Karg als
Schriftführer und Chris Sebastian als Kassier. Ich

danke diesen Mitgliedern, die diese wichtigen Rollen auf sich genommen haben.
Am Samstag, dem16. Januar waren Erika und ich
beim Kameradschaftsabend im Schwabenclub. Er
war sehr gut besucht, etwa 200 Personen waren
dabei. Wir hatten ein wunderbares Buffet mit einer
tollen Auswahl von Salaten, Hühnerbrust in Soße,
sehr schmackhaften Rostbraten mit pikantem
Meerrettich… von der Art der in die Nasenhöhle
hochsteigt und sich im Hirn anmeldet! Alle
deutschen Vereine waren durch ihre Präsidenten
und ihre Misses vertreten. Die ‘Golden Keys’ spielten zum Tanz auf und wie gewohnt liebte das Publikum ihre Musik und die Tanzfläche war durchgehend voll belegt. Diesmal wurden wir von zwei jüngeren Tanzgruppen des Schwabenclubs unterhalten, beide zigten sich von der besten Seite. Gerhard

Organisation des Abends.
Am 20. Januar war ich bei der Generalversammlung
der Kulturgruppe. Wir gratulieren dem neuen
Vorstand. Wir danken allen, die die Verantwortung
für neue Rollen übernommen haben, und auch
denen, die diese Rollen bis jetzt ausgefüllt haben.
Der kulturelle Bereich unseres Klubs ist das
Rückgrat dessen, was der Klub darstellt, und der
Grund dafür, dass wir ihn weiterführen. Lasst uns
alle die Unterstützung zeigen, die notwendig ist,
unsere Kultur zu erhalten.
Der Frauenball fand am Samstag, dem 6.Februar
unter dem Motto ‘The Sound of Music’ statt. Ich bin
sicher, dass jeder den Film gesehen hat und mit den
Liedern vertraut ist, und die mehrzahl der anwesenden war dem Motto entsprechend gekleidet. Es
waren etwa 165 Personen anwesend, und wir haben
alle den Abend genossen. Angie’s belieferte das
schmackhafte Essen mit Hühnerschnitzel mit
Pilzsoße, Nudeln und Rotkraut und zum Nachtisch
einen knusprigen Apfelstrudel, was allen gefiel. Die
Damen des Ausschusses sangen zur Unterhaltung
eine Auswahl der Lieder aus dem Film, und Margit
Fritsch dirigierte sie mit sicherer Leitung. Die
Jugendgruppe stellte einen grossen Teil der Unterhaltung, sie führten mit gelungener Mimik ein Puppenspiel mit Szenen vom Film mit einem witzig auf
die Sachsen zugeschnittenem Kommentar bis hin
zum Abschiedslied auf, und sie tanzten mit ‘Gastteilnehmern’ den Ländler und eine weitere Nummer. Die Sieben Burgen Kapelle verlockte mit einer
eindrucksvollen Auswahl von Melodien zum Tanzen. Wir gratulieren unseren Damen zu dem tollen
Abend!
Bitte seid daran erinnert, eure Trachten für unseren
Trachtenball am 5. März herzurichten. Alle, die die
Tracht tragen, erhalten einen $5 Gutschein zum
Essen ihrer Wahl aus unserem Angebot. Hoffentlich
werdet ihr dabei sein und die Krönung unserer Miss
Transylvania 2016 miterleben! Erinnert euch daran,
dass dies eine Familienveranstaltung ist, bringt eure

Kinder und Enkel mit und lasst sie beim Kinderaufmarsch mitmachen. Der Eintritt ist $15 pro
Person. Kinder von 6 bis 12 Jahren zahlen $ 10 und
Kinder, die 5 Jahre alt oder jünger sind, haben
freien Eintritt. Bitte bestellt eure Karten im Büro.
Bitte markiert in eurem Kalender den 26. März für
eine weitere heitere Familienveranstaltung: Unsere
Jugend wird zu ihrem jährlichen Spagettiabend ihre
Kochkünste spielen lassen. Es wird viel kostliches
Essen geben, gute Unterhaltung und Spass für die
Kinder. Kommt und unterstützt unsere Jugend!
Ich bitte alle Mitglieder, unsere Jahreshauptversammlung zu besuchen am Sonntag, dem 20. März um
14:00 Uhr. Es wird Diskussionen und Anträge hinsichtlich unserer Verfassung geben, also sollten alle
dabei sein.

Dear Members and Friends,
On Friday January 15th, 2016 I attended the
K.U.V. Annual general meeting, at which time the
announcement was made that the K.U.V. is dissolving. I would urge all Transylvania Club members to
please attend our annual general meeting being
held at 2:00 pm on Sunday March 20th, 2016 to
vote on two motions regarding the dissolving of the
K.U.V. that will be put before the general membership at that meeting.
At that same meeting, elections were held for the
Sterbefond and Mathias Wolf was re-elected as President, Oscar Karg was re-elected as the Secretary
and Christian Sebastien was re-elected as Treasurer.
Thank you to those members that have agreed to
continue in these important roles.

On Saturday, January 16th, 2016 Erika and I
attended Kameradschaftsabend at the Schwaben
Club. It was a great turnout, with approx. 200 people there. We had a wonderful buffet that included
a great selection of salads, some tasty beef and great
horseradish…..the kind that shoots right up your
nostrils and goes straight to the brain! All the
German Clubs were represented by their Presidents
and their respective Miss. The Golden Keys performed and as usual, had the dance floor crowded
with people enjoying their music. We were also
entertained by two younger dance groups from the
Schwaben Club, and both groups put on marvelous
shows for us. Gerhard Griebenow, President of the
Arbeitsgemeinschaft thanked all the clubs and
organizations for their support throughout the year.
On January 20th I attended the Transylvania Club
Cultural Group AGM. Congratulations to the new
committee. Thank you to those that are taking on
new roles of responsibility, and to those that have
done so in the past. The cultural aspect of this club
is the backbone of what this club represents and
why we maintain this club. Let’s all show the support needed to keep this alive.
Frauenball was held on Saturday, February 6th,
2016 with a “Sound of Music” theme. I’m sure I can
safely say that everyone has seen that movie and is
familiar with all the musical scores from it. There
were approximately 165 people that attended and
we all had a great time. Angie’s catered the delicious
meal, which consisted of chicken schnitzel, noodles, red cabbage and for dessert, wonderful “crisp
apple strudel” and everyone enjoyed it. We were
then entertained by Seven Castles. The ladies of the
Frauenverein Committee serenaded us with their
vocal talents and sang a medley of songs from the
Sound of Music movie … it was beautiful and
Margit Fritsch’s conducting added that special
touch. Our Youth group was a big part of the entertainment throughout the evening, dancing the
Ländler, recreating the puppet show scene from the
movie, as well as the scene of the Von Trapp family

signing “Good night, farewell”. Congratulations
ladies for a great evening!
Please remember to iron your Trachts for our
Trachtenball which is coming up on March 5th,
2016. Everyone wearing a Tracht will receive a
$5.00 voucher that can be used toward the cost of
whatever food they wish to purchase that evening. I
hope to see you all there as we announce and crown
our new Miss Transylvania for 2016!! Remember
this is a family event for all ages, so bring the children and let them partake in the Kinderaufmarsch.
Tickets are $15 per person, children ages 6 to 12
years pay $ 10, and children 5 and under get in free.
Please call the office for tickets.
Mark March 26th on your calendars for another fun
family event not to be missed as the youth group
cooks up a storm for their annual Spaghetti Night.
There will be lots of delicious food, entertainment
and fun for the children. Please come out and support our youth!
I am asking all members to attend our annual general meeting which will be on Sunday, March 20th,
starting at 2:00 pm. There will be discussions and
motions regarding our club’s constitution, so everyone should be there.
As a member, it is your right to attend this meeting.

CULTURAL GROUP REPORTS
Dear Members and Friends,
Die Kulturgruppe hat am 20. Januar ihre Jahreshauptversammlung abgehalten und ich moechte
allen die gekommen sind danken. Ich moechte
mich auch bedanken bei allen Untergruppen und
bei den Mitgliedern unseren Gruppen, die im letzen
Jahr fliessig gearbeitet haben um unsere Kultur zu
erhalten.
The Cultural group held its annual general meeting
on January 20, 2016 and I would like to thank
those that attended. I would also like to thank each
group, their committees and their members for all
the hard work and dedication in the past year. It is
not easy to keep our cultural heritage alive for our
future generations but our groups are dedicated and
do their very best. We should be proud of all of
them!

The upcoming year is going to be filled with many
cultural events and all the groups are practicing
endlessly to make sure you enjoy their programs
when you attend the events and support their
efforts. I will be working with them to make sure
they are supported and showcased properly.
I would also like to congratulate the new youth
group committee that was elected on January 31st.
I look forward to working with them and know they
will do their best to encourage our youth to learn

about their heritage and promote our dances and
traditions.
Our appreciation and thanks also to the committee
members stepping down; Kody Wolf and Evan
Karst, and our 2015 Miss Transylvania Stephanie
Klaehn. You all put your hearts into leading our
youth group in the past year and we thank you for
your dedication and hard work.
I am also very proud of the youth group’s participation at Frauenball on February 6th. They performed
the Laendler, the puppet show and the Von Trapp
children goodnight scene from the Sound of Music
and also helped serve and clear the meal. By supporting each other and other groups we bond as a
family and realize that working together benefits
everyone and helps both young and old realize that
the goal to keep our culture and heritage alive is
attainable. The youth group always helps out when
needed so please come out and support their
Spaghetti Night on March 26th.
I look forward to seeing you all at Trachtenball and
the crowning of our new Miss Transylvania on
March 5th. I encourage you to bring the whole family and your friends for this memorable event as we
celebrate our heritage in song, music and dance.
The Hofbrau band will be providing the music for
our Aufmarsch and for dancing, the choir will
entertain us with song, the youth group will showcase their dances and the Kindergruppe will also be
there to dance for us and participate in the Kinderaufmarsch. You won’t want to miss it!
Make sure you mark your calendars for the upcoming, not to be missed events. I would love to see you
all there. Please come out and support the groups
and our efforts to make all our functions fun and
entertaining.

FRAUENVEREIN
Our Frauenball was another huge success. Thank
you to the Youthgoup under the leadership of Alex
Emrich. Their performance was a pleasure to watch
and we all had smiles on our faces. Thank you for all
the members who helped out with the event, from
decorating, to organizing the meal, setting up tables,
tombola, singing for our program and selling of tickets. A big thank you to Margit Fritsch for organizing
this year’s program for the Sound of Music Frauenball and my special MC, Bob Foster. It was a fun
event with lots of laughter and joy.
Stay tuned for next year’s Frauenball.

Die Senioren treffen sich jeden dritten Mittwoch im
Monat im Concordia Klub zu gutem Essen und gemütlichem Beisammensein. Unsere nächsten Zusammenkünfte finden jeweils am Mittwoch, den 16.

STERBEFOND & SENIOREN
JAHRESBERICHT
Die Jahreshauptversammlung für Sterbefond und
Senioren fand am 15. Januar 2016 statt. Die Senioren trafen sich elf mal bei gutem Essen und guter
Unterhaltung im Concordia Club. Wir haben
immer eine gute Zeit. Christian Sebastian bringt
immer ein paar Witze mit sowie auch andere wenn
sie Lust haben einen Witz zu erzaehlen. Wir singen
immer 4 Lieder, gratulieren denjenigen die in jenem
Monat Geburtstag feiern. Ausserdem spielen wir
Bingo. Durch das Jahr haben 394 Personen
teilgenommen. Christian Sebastian hat auch im vergangenen Jahr 8 Fahrten zum Casino gemacht, wofür wir ihm dankbar sind.
Sterbefond: Wir hatten 10 Sterbefaelle im Jahr 2015
und zwar Georg Kauntz, Susanna Lutch, Johann
Draser, Georg Werner, Gertrude Dienesch, Andreas
Sturm, Maria Freiheit, Susanna Klein, Paul Konnert

TRANSYLVANIA CHOR
The choir is currently working towards performing
at Trachtenball and towards our choir concert on
April 9.
Those of you who attended last year will be interested to hear that there is a totally different set of guest
choirs performing this year. That was done in order
to offer the choirs of the Canadian-German Choir
Association a fair chance at attending our concert in
turn, and to offer a different variety of sound to our
audience each year.
Our guest choirs will be Germania Hamilton, the
Heidelberg-Rheingold Singers of St. Catherines, the
Loreley Singers of Oshawa, and Lyra London.
This year we were forced to increase the ticket price
to $ 30 per person due to the significant rise in meat
and salad prices. We hope you will understand and
still support your choir. We remain committed to
providing the best Schnitzel lunch around, followed
by our members’ delicious baked specialties for
dessert, and a lively selection of songs from our cultural heritage for everybody’s enjoyment.
You can register your attendance in the office; we
will have tickets available at the beginning of April.

“Hello everyone! I am Alex Emrich, the new president of our Club’s dance group. The Transylvania
Club Dance Group is very excited for the coming
months, as it looks to be an awesome year we have
ahead of us. We plan to perform at Alpine’s Marchtoberfest once again this year, and are excited to
entertain you with our traditional dances at Trachtenball 2016, where we will crown our new Miss
Transylvania. Coming up on March 26 is our annual Spaghetti Night Fundraiser. We hope you will
save this date, as you will not want to miss what is
in store for this year! Next, we will be reaching out
to the current ballroom dancing class when they
graduate in the spring. Our group is excited to welcome new members and grow our numbers. This
summer, experienced members from our group will
be travelling to Germany and Austria with the
Transylvania Hofbräu Band, proudly representing
our Club and culture with our performances. We
are looking forward to a great year ahead of us, with
support from Justin Schatz, Vice-president; Katelyn
Emrich, Secretary; and Adam Gierscher, Treasurer.

Club Kitchener (TCK) approves the dissolution of
the KUV of which the Board of Directors was
informed on September 23, 2015.

hierbei genehmigt; und

That once the officers of the KUV have informed

process has been completed and that all its debts
have been paid and that all its assets have been distributed and that it has closed its bank account,
then TCK’s “Transylvania Klub Definitionen und
Geschaeftsordnung Definitions and Bylaws” shall be
amended by deleting all references to the “Krankenunterstuetzungsverein” in that document.

Sobald die Beamten des KUV den Praesidenten des
TCK schriftlich informiert haben, dass alle
Aufloesungsschritte vollendet sind und dass alle
Schulden des KUVs bezahlt sind und dass das ganze

Vermoegen des KUVs verteilt ist und dass der KUV
sein Bankkonto geschlossen hat, dann sollen die
Statuten des TCK geaendert werden, wobei alle
Hinweise auf den KUV ausgestrichen werden.
