DESIGNED TO LAST: At Humphrey, we are dedicated to creating future design classics
– that is to say, we design adornments that will be as beautiful and as relevant in 20 or
50 years as they are today. Our designs are simple and minimal; they do not steal the
spotlight so much as they enhance the beauty of the wearer. We use only the finest
metals – 400 series stainless steel and red gold, which are hypoallergenic and flawless in
finish – and the highest quality gems. We seek to constantly innovate with new forms
and new materials.
THE HUMPHREY DIAMOND: The range of diamonds is enormous. The same applies to
the price range. Diamonds with a defined cut are known as brilliant-cut diamonds. All the
others are known as diamonds. Humphrey diamonds are assessed according to the 4 C’s:
Color. Humphrey generally uses only Top Wesselton (TW) diamonds because an inferior
color would look yellowish against stainless steel.
Clarity. Only diamonds with very small inclusion (VSI) are used. Mounted brilliant-cut
diamonds are subject to extremely high pressure and can be easily damaged in the case
of lower quality.
Cut. We buy brilliant-cut diamonds that are cut in Antwerp. The cut plays a decisive
role in the luminance of the stone.
Carat. We offer various stone sizes; there is something for every budget. Prices
raise exponentially because the larger a stone, the rarer it is.
As we strictly adhere to these criteria when selecting our diamonds, you can be assured
that your Humphrey diamond will be of the highest quality.
GESCHAFFEN, UM ZU BLEIBEN: Humphrey’s Bestreben ist es, Designklassiker zu kreieren
– wir wollen Schmuckdesign machen, das in 20 oder 50 Jahren dieselbe Gültigkeit hat wie
heute. Unsere Designs sind einfach und minimalistisch. Sie ordnen sich der Ausstrahlung
der Schmuckträger(innen) unter. Wir verwenden ausschließlich feinste Materialien und
Edelsteine. Unser Schmuck ist allergiefrei und von perfekter Ausarbeitung. Ständig arbeiten wir an der Entwicklung neuer Designs.
Über die Diamanten, die Humphrey verwendet: Das Feld der angebotenen
Diamanten ist riesig. Genauso deren Preisgestaltung. Als Brillant bezeichnet man Diamanten, die in einem definierten Schliff (Brillantschliff) geschliffen sind. Alle anderen sind
Diamanten.
Die Bewertung der Diamanten erfolgt in 4 C:
Color = Farbe – Humphrey verwendet generell nur Diamanten Top Wesselton (TW). In
Edelstahl wird eine schlechtere Farbe als Gelbstich empfunden.
Clarity = Reinheit – Es kommen ausschließlich Diamanten mit Very small inclusion (Vsi) zum
Einsatz. Eingespannte Brillanten sind hohem Druck ausgesetzt und können bei schlechterer
Qualität leichter beschädigt werden.
Cut = Schliff – Wir kaufen Brillanten, die in Antwerpen geschliffen werden. Der Schliff
entscheidet wesentlich über die Brillanz des Steines.
Carat = Gewicht – Es werden unterschiedliche Steingrößen angeboten – für jedes Budget
ist etwas dabei. Die Preise entwickeln sich jedoch exponential, denn es gilt, je größer,
umso seltener.
Durch diese Qualitätskriterien können wir sicherstellen, dass Sie ein besonders edles
Schmuckstück haben.
THE BRILLIANCE OF COLORED GEMS: Colored gemstones come in all imaginable
colors; however, not all stones are suitable for processing in stainless steel. The stones
must not be sensitive to pressure. They must not be too soft. The color must be repeatable and, ultimately, the price must remain stable. We choose the stones that do justice
to all these requirements.
About the Humphrey Pearl: A wealth of different pearls are available on the
market, such as the Freshwater cultured pearl, the Akoya cultured pearl and the South
Sea cultured pearl. The following criteria need to be fulfilled for Humphrey Akoya
Pearls: The pearl needs to be perfectly round and have a flawless surface. The pearl
must correspond to the stainless steel jewelry in size and thus have an extremely precise
diameter. The pearl must have a beautiful shine (lustre). The pearl must be of a beautiful
color. In the case of the grey pearls, they are dyed. These criteria mean that only pearls
matching these rigorous qualities are used.
DAMASCUS JEWELRY, UPDATING A BEAUTIFUL TECHNIQUE: Each piece of raw
Damascus steel is completely unique – no two are alike. Humphrey chooses each piece
of Damascus for its singular pattern and personality. As a result, each piece of jewelry
is like no other – original, singular, and extraordinary.
Über die Farbedelsteine, die Humphrey verwendet: Farbedelsteine gibt es
in allen denkbaren Farben. Für die Verarbeitung in Edelstahl sind jedoch nicht alle Steine
geeignet. Die Steine dürfen nicht druckempfindlich und auch nicht zu weich sein. Die
Farbe muss wiederholbar sein, und nichtzu letzt darf der Preis nicht entgleiten.
Wir haben uns für einige Steine entschieden, die all diesen Anforderungen gerecht
werden.
Über die Perlen, die Humphrey verwendet: Es gibt eine Vielzahl an verschiedenen Perlen am Markt. Einige davon sind z. B. Süsswasser - Zuchtperle, Akoya –
Zuchtperle, Südsee - Zuchtperle. Folgende Kriterien müssen für Humphrey erfüllt sein:
Die Perle muss perfekt rund sein und soll eine makellose Oberfläche haben. Die Perle
muss sich dem Edelstahlschmuck in der Größe anpassen und somit sehr genau im
Durchmesser sein. Die Perle muss einen schönen Glanz (Lüster) haben. Die Perle muss
eine schöne Farbe haben. Im Fall der grauen Perlen werden diese gefärbt.
Diese Kriterien bedingen, dass viele (preiswerte) Perlen nicht in Frage kommen und nur
ausgesuchte Qualitäten zum Einsatz kommen.
Schmuck aus Damaszenerstahl, eine alte Technik neu angewandt:
Damaszener Stahl wird gefaltet, geschmiedet, wieder gefaltet, geschmiedet,... dadurch
entstehen individuelle innere Strukturen. Humphrey verwendet ausgesuchten Damaszener
Stahl mit geeigneten Mustern. Das Ergebnis jedes Schmuckstückes ist einzigartig und
außergewöhnlich.
