Neither Chloraldurat 500 mg, nor Subutex are available. Also the active agents of
both drugs cannot be bought in Baku.
2) In Azerbaijan the treatment at all public hospitals/clinics is free of charge and
should be considered as an alternative to the National Health Insurance System
(NHIS). There is also list of drugs, approved by the Ministry of Health, which can
be obtained free of charge. Unfortunately, OMEPRAZOL 40 mg is the only drug
which is in on list of Ministry of Health. Accordingly, all other drugs, the patient
has to pay himself.

3) Liver zirrhosis can be treated in local private and public healthcare institutions.
The Central Clinic (private institution) is specialized on the treatment of liver
zirrhosis. The consultation fee is 39 AZN (36 EUR).

For the medical treatment in public hospitals, patients should register at
polyclinic, first, where they can issue referrals to specialised public health care
institutions. The consultation will be free of charge.

Medical treatment of drug (heroin) abuse of is available only in public dispensary.
The patient should register at Republican Narcological Dispensary, which can be
made anonymous as well. All treatments and medicines in Republican
Narcological Dispensary are free of charge.

4) As an alternative to Subutex programme, patients could join Methadone
Maintenance Treatment (MMT) programme.
It is a governmental program where treatment (incl. medicines) is free of charge.
