TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty
- TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care)
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This year, the Special Operations Training Center will
conduct the 8th TCCC Symposium in cooperation with the
German Society for Military Medicine and Pharmacy
(DGWMP).
The number of operations conducted by the Bundeswehr
and by allied armed forces has certainly not decreased
recently, but - on the contrary – new tasks have been
added to the already existing ones. The principles and
priorities of “Tactical Combat Casualty Care“ (TCCC) must
keep pace with this development and must be adjusted
to the new operational requirements without delay
whenever this becomes necessary.. This is the only way
to ensure that we will be able to provide purposeful and
state-of-the-art initial medical casualty care also in future
operational scenarios. Against this background, it
appears imperative to enable all organizations involved in
tactical medicine to gather in Pfullendorf again in order
to provide continuity to this forum for mutual exchange
and further development of knowledge that has been
developing over many years.
. Not least of all, we again wish to provide a platform for
an exchange of experience between German Combat
First Responders (CFR) and their counterparts from other
nations in order to further enhance interoperability, which
is of tremendous importance in multinational operations.
It would be a pleasure to me to welcome you to the 8th
TCCC Symposium in Pfullendorf.

Dear Comrades-in-Arms,
Dear Colleagues,
Dear Interested Parties,
On behalf of the German Society for Military Medicine and Pharmacy
(DGWMP), I send you my best regards and would be pleased if you were
able to attend the 8th TCCC-Symposium to be conducted in
PFULLENDORF in cooperation with the Special Operations Training
Center.
TCCC – is it set to continue? You know the situation, namely that we are
not yet out of Afghanistan but already operating in Mali, and it is only a
matter of time until we have to tackle another new mission.
Neither world politics nor the political decision-makers will allow the
armed forces to take a rest. Furthermore, international terrorism fuelled
by poverty, ignorance and fanaticized religious groups will preclude this
also in future.
In a world experiencing asymmetric phenomena of violence which can
become a reality at any time also in Germany, the mission is is clear not
only for the German armed forces, but also for other national and
international organizations exercising sovereign functions. It is our duty
to provide prompt live-saving initial medical care to casualties even in
the front line of combat. As to our goal of advancing joint capabilities,
we must particularly focus on achieving smooth tactical and medical
cooperation at a high level. In this field, there are still plenty of things
which should be passed on, practised and perfected.
During this years symposium which will still take place in Pfullendorf in
a relatively familar setting, we will address and discuss new
developments and subsequently practise them. Furthermore, we will
already take a look ahead at the first Combat Medical Care (CMC)
Symposium which will be conducted n ULM alternately with the
PFULLENDORF symposium starting from 2014 and will mainly focus on
presenting and discussing the clinical aspects of TCCC, forward medical
evacuation, damage control surgery (DCS) and long-distance critical
care air transport and treatment (CCATT).
So, there is no end in sight, but things are moving on. Come and see,
learn and practise the future of TCCC.
With best regards, I remain
International attendees:
Please initiate international visit procedures!
