revolutionary new Genie ® SX180 self-propelled telescopic boom
lift was introduced today at the bauma
2013 tradeshow in Munich, Germany.
The largest of its kind in the market, the
boom lift is suited for applications in
the oil and gas industries, commercial
construction, industrial construction
and maintenance, and general maintenance. The SX-180 may be seen publicly for the first time by visiting stand
F7 – 710/711.
The Genie SX-180 is designed to be
productive, reliable and easy to transport. “Customers are always looking
for new and innovative ways to carry
out their work more efficiently and
more effectively. In concert with customer input, our engineers have been

generation of Genie telescopic boom
lifts,” said Scott Krieger, Senior Product Manager, Booms and Telehandlers,
Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP). “We
have pushed the limits of innovation in
the aerial industry by successfully producing results beyond expectations.”
The Genie SX-180 is built to safely
and quickly lift operators higher than
any previously offered self-propelled
boom lift. With a 54.9 meter (180 ft)
vertical reach and 24.4 meter (80 ft)
horizontal reach, the Genie SX-180
provides a working envelope ideal for
the most extreme access jobs. The
2.44m (8 ft) by 0.91 m (3 ft) platform
has an unrestricted capacity of 340 kg
(750 lb). The 3.05 m (10 ft), 180 degree, rotating jib positions workers and
gear exactly where they are needed.
The machine is designed to be driven
at full height. Travel speeds vary based
on boom position and range from 4.02
km/h (2.5 mph) with the boom in the
stowed position, 0.65 km/h (0.4 mph)
below 38.1 m (125 ft) and 0.17 km/hr
(0.1 mph) above 38.1 m (125 ft).
The newly designed X-chassis extends and retracts to provide both stability on the job and a narrow profile
for transport. The boom lift’s stowed
dimensions are 3.05m (10 ft) in height
and 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) wide. With a stowed
length of 12.98 m (42 ft 7 in), the 24,494
kg (54,000 lbs) machine requires no
over width or over height permits allowing it to be easily transported on
a truck. “This X-chassis design is also
used on our new Genie® ZX™-135 articulating boom introduced earlier this
year,” said Krieger. “This allows our big
booms to share many design features
providing parts and operating commonality.”

reliability and serviceability in mind.

tems and components, robust hose
and harness routings and access to
slew bearing bolts from topside. The
rotating jib offers a robust slew bearing
and worm drive arrangement.
New platform controls consist of
toggle switches and fully proportional
jib and boom controls. The ground
controls offer an updated function
diagram layout and tactile membrane
switches. Customers may choose from
either a Deutz or Perkins engine. A
50 gallon fuel tank for longer run time
and a 7.5 KW generator are standard
equipment.
Worldwide availability will begin in
the second half of 2013. ■

The display will introduce several new
products and feature a special service
corner highlighting how Terex AWP adds
value to customers by providing new after
sales service solutions, updated website
services, and new training, parts and financing solutions.
For zero-emissions operation, Terex
AWP will also exhibit two new electric
scissors, the Genie ® GS™-4047 and
GS™-3369DC.
The GS™-3369 DC Genie ® electric
Scissor Lift with 12 m working height, will
be on display. It is equipped as standard
with the patented full-time oscillating axle
that automatically adjusts the axle position to match the ground conditions, regardless of the scissor’s elevation, as well
as with the optional automatic leveling hydraulic outriggers.
Designed to meet the needs of indoor
and outdoor construction jobs, this new
GS™-69 DC series is bringing rough terrain ability and full height driving capability to the electric drive scissor market. The
innovative approach sees the adoption of
its highly-efficient and zero emission AC
drive system to rough terrain scissor lifts
thanks to the patented full-time oscillating
axle.
From the current range, the long awaited and recently released, new generation
European GS™-4047 compact electric
slab scissor lift with 14 m working height
will be exhibited. Manufactured at the
Terex facility in Coventry, UK, the Genie ®
GS™-4047 allows the operator to reach
a height of almost 14 m (45 ft) in under
70 seconds, provides a comfortable platform with a 91 cm extension deck, and
can reposition the vehicle at its full working height. ■

TRAINING AT FURNAS
Terex performs at Marimbondo Hidroeletric Plant, another action training
to help their customers get the best from your equipment

erex sponsored theoretical
and hands-on training on the
230 kV to 500 kV mobile switch at the Furnas electric power utility. Held at the Marimbondo Hydroelectric Plant in Fronteira/MG - on the
border between the states of Minas
Gerais and São Paulo - the event
was attended by about 30 people,
including engineers, technicians,
electricians and supervisors.
The mobile switch is a long distance control device for connecting
and disconnecting capacitor voltage
transformers (CVTs) and lightning
rods (LRs) on bus bars and energized transmission line terminals of
230kV to 500kV substations. Used
with live wire technology, mobile
switches make it possible to maintain or replace equipment without
disconnecting circuits.
The theoretical training covered
the project stages and the partnerships established, as well as the
awards received by this product at

national and international conferences.
The hands-on training covered all the
steps involved in installation, with full
explanations and comments on every
step. The attendees were able to operate the switch and have their questions
answered.
The Terex team members in charge

TEREX RUNS TESTS
To meet NBR standard 16092/2012 of the Ministry of Labor, Terex offers testing and
inspections to help its clients maintain the safety of their aerial buckets

nder Ordinance 293, the Ministry of Labor and Employment has imposed a new
standard on the Brazilian market. The
NBR standard 16092/2012, replacing
NBR 14631/2000, cited in addendum
XII of NR-12, has established the requirement and obligation to carry out
periodic and occasional inspections
and tests for equipment used for elevating people, especially aerial buckets designed for working at height.
The purpose of the new legislation is
to standardize the operational procedures involving this type of equipment
to better ensure the safety of operators.
Each bucket must be subjected to
a battery of inspections and tests at
least once every twelve months. Inspections must be conducted every
48 months to monitor noise levels. In
both cases, properly prepared, dated
and signed files of these inspections

Maintenance Meeting, held
by Copel - Companhia Paranaense de Eletricidade [Paranaense
Electric Company] - in Curitiba, Paraná on the 10th and 11th of April, Terex presented its latest maintenance
technologies for energized systems.

provided an opportunity for important
discussions on current issues pertaining to the electricity sector, such

Sérgio Yassui majored in Mechanical Engineering
at Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial and has more
than 20 years of experience in the areas of Applications Engineering, Quality & Post-Sales in Services
and Parts. He has worked in the automotive and industrial segments for companies like Delphi Lucas,
Nissan and International Trucks (Navistar), both in
managing dealers and interacting with major customers and fleets. ■

NTEC recently acquired a new
Terex® AC 500-2 all terrain
crane to expand their heavy lifting capabilities. But before the new
crane could be put to work, its new
owner had to unload it from a cargo ship in a precise tandem lift that
showcased the full range of capabilities that ENTEC puts within the reach
of its clients
With 35 years of experience in the
market, Manaus-based ENTEC specializes in heavy-load transportation
and equipment leasing throughout the
Amazon region. With its vast range of
top-level services offered to numerous clients throughout the Amazon
region, the company is constantly
making new investments, especially
in the expansion and improvement of
its equipment fleet. ENTEC received
its latest acquisition at the beginning

of May - a new, fully-loaded, 500-ton
Terex AC 500-2 all terrain crane.
The crane, which was transported by ship directly from the port of
Antwerp to Manaus, was purchased
to work on new cargo transport projects that ENTEC is undertaking for
Petrobras. It will be used in support
operations for the construction of new
thermal power plants in the northern
region of the country.
The state-owned port commissioned ENTEC itself to unload the
crane from the ship.. To remove the

on the fixed dock.
The work was executed so as not to
remove the telescopic boom in order
to decrease the weight of the load being moved. The operational radius was
11 meters and the work was carried
out successfully, within the specifications of the workload table. The entire
operation was closely monitored by
Reinaldo Longhi, ENTEC’s Business
Director, together with an operations
team especially trained for this type of
work. They were all able to show how
precise and reliable the equipment
was when working together.
The arrival of the Terex AC 500-2 all
terrain crane in Manaus is an example
of how seriously ENTEC is committed to

The basic element for the design
of explosion proof crane systems is
the Demag FDM footmounted hoist,
which is employed in the four sizes 3,
5, 10 and 20 – derived from the DRrange. Thanks to its modular design
and the existing coupling solution

system, the rope hoist can be supplied with a universal interface for
ATEX-compliant brakes and motors.
The compact design makes the hoist

celebrates first graduating class

o help improve the lives of
people around the world”.
This is Terex Corporation’s
purpose and it is widely publicized
wherever it operates around the
world. On April 30, Latin America
was the scene of a major milestone
in demonstrating this purpose. On
that day in Cotia, São Paulo state
at the Terex Material Handling main
office, a graduation ceremony was
held for the first group of team members in the adult secondary education program.
This education program, held
in partnership with the Bradesco
Foundation, began in 2006. From
Monday through Friday after business hours, teacher Claudia Cassi-
no taught classes ranging from literacy to the standard secondary
education curriculum. The program
participants dedicated two hours of
their time daily for two years to complete their studies, learn more and
acquire the diploma that testified
to their personal and professional
achievement.
The program participants were

one of the most modern
and best-equipped
terminals in southern
Brazil

TFD - Terminal Full Dealer, is a distributor of Terex® port equipment
and has been carving out an important share of the market by providing
complete support to clients anywhere
in Brazil. One of TFD’s main clients is
Portonave, the port terminal at Navegantes, Santa Catarina, recognized
as one of the most modern and competitive in the country. With constant
investments in infrastructure, the terminal installed three new ship to shore
container cranes in April, along with five
new rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes
that went into operation as part of its
current equipment fleet. With the new
units, the Portonave terminal is now
the best-equipped in Santa Catarina.
The Terex ship to shore cranes purchased by Portonave are designed to
handle Post Panamax ships and can
hoist 75 tons. With these units, the
terminal has the capacity to handle
ships with 48-meter beams (19 rows
of containers). The new units were
loaded onto a special ship at the Terex
factory’s private pier in Xiamen, southwest China, and completed a 45-day
sea voyage to reach Navegantes. The
loading operation took ten days, the

technical requirements. With a bold
design, these solutions achieve high
rates of productivity and meet strict
market requirements, providing excellent availability, reliability and safety.
Terex had already provided the
same set of units to Portonave in 2008,
and this new shipment confirms client
satisfaction regarding the quality of the
products and support services provided to the Brazilian market. “At TFD,
we have the regular support of Terex
Latin America, and we have shown in
this operation that we have a united,
young and aggressive team. These
are essential qualities for ensuring the
success of a brand as bold as Terex,”
says Renato Macedo, TFD Director.
With these new units, Portonave has
a total of six ship to shore container
cranes, the main equipment used for
loading and unloading ships, as well
as 18 RTG cranes, used to move containers around in the storage area. ■

The Powerscreen Distributor Portal is available on-line. This website
contains Powerscreen’s most important resources for distributors to
quickly and easily find the information
they need. With the tool, new documents and files will be updated on a
regular basis. To access the portal,
you can contact the Marketing Department and request a user guide
and your company’s login name and
password.
Through the new tool, users can
access the latest Operations Manuals and Parts Illustrated Catalogs. In
addition, customers who want updated versions for their equipments’
manuals should send an e-mail request to [email protected],
providing the respective equipment’s
serial number.
The Powerscreen portal also offers a distributor tool application for
mobile devices. Powerscreen has designed this application based on cus-
tomers’ replies to a recent Customer
Satisfaction Research. Developed
and launched for the Apple® iPad,
the application can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. Just
search for Powerscreen in the search
box. It contains all of the most useful documents, pictures and videos
available, provided in user-friendly
formats. This is an excellent tool for
sales and resellers teams, allowing
them to quickly get the information
they need and share documents with
their clients, when needed. The application stores all documents to your
iPad device, which simplifies access
to them. Every time you open the application while connected to a Wi-Fi
network, the application checks for
updated or new content, thus assuring your application is always up-todate.
Powerscreen has also developed
a new Help-Desk tool, which can
be accessed from a link within the
Distributor Portal. This facilitates
sending questions on screening and
crushing equipment and applications
to the Help-Desk system. The new
system also enables a more effective
communication on updates and it will
be able to monitor our response time
to customers’ requests. All updates
and information regarding one question will be compiled into the same
area, thus enabling you to view all
your previous requests and open
orders. The new Help-Desk system
provides Powerscreen with a powerful tool to help solve any problems 24
hours a day. ■
