So the title is misleading as while girl 99 may be the denouement, it's by no means the purpose of the book. Also,
it's not really a romance as it was pegged.
That being said, on it's own merits, it's a great book. Hilariously funny with well drawn and constructed characters.
The final two chapters were slightly disappointing and didn't quite wrap up all the loose ends as well as I would
have liked. With a different title, branding under good old fiction and more detail in the closing chapters, this
could easily be a best seller and I could see it selling for movie rights quite easily - ala 'About a Boy'. A clear
consistent voice throughout and well worth a read if you want to be entertained for four hours. Not so much with
the romance though.|LOVED this book.
Can't wait to read more by this author.|It was actually quite nice to read a story about a guy written of a guy.
To give you an idea of what the story is like think chick lit from a male perspective. It´s funny, and though there is
romance in the story, it´s more about self discovery than to fuck your ways through 100 girls to find the one.
I like Fisher. Even when he was a jerk to some of the girls, I could see things from his perspective, and was
cheering him on his way to reach his goal. Every time a bit more wiser than before.
And I loved all the other things happening in this book that shows what good hearted, but lost he is. His
friendship with EL (long time friend sick from Huntington’s disease, and is a bit of a task to those around him (he
was the one that came up with the bet!). His family that´s close, but still in sorrow after losing their mom/wife, his
rebellious teenage niece he takes care of to give his sister some peace for the weekend. His job - everything that
went down at the movie set while filming a new commercial. I just loved all of it.

It´s well written. Funny. Very british (I love that) and it´s a down to earth story.

Fisher ist in der Werbung tätig. Als er sich nach Weihnachten mit einer Arbeitskollegin ein Taxi teilt kommt es zu
einem Kuss den er seiner derzeitigen Freundin Kate gesteht. Diese hat nichts besseres zu tun als sich zu rächen in
dem sie ihrerseits einem Kollegen einen bläst, und sich dann von Fisher trennt. Als dieser seinem langjährigen
Freund El von alledem erzählt will dieser eine Wette schließen. Fisher soll bis zu einem gewissen Stichtag die 100
Frauen voll bekommen. Immerhin hat er ja schon 83 Frauen gehabt. Also 8 Monate für 17 Frauen, das sollte doch
zu schaffen sein. Fisher nimmt die Wette schließlich doch an. Und während er Castings für Weingummi-Werbung
macht und sich mit El trifft und mit dem Gedanken spielt seine Eigentumswohnung zu verkaufen sammeln sich die
restlichen Frauen in seiner Liste. Bis er Ivy kennen lernt. Doch nichts ist wirklich einfach.
Schreibstil und Charaktere
Der Schreibstil von Andy P. Jones ist für mich nicht wirklich auszumachen. Irgendwie langweilt mich seine
Geschichte, seine Charaktere sind irgendwie "Komisch". Und überhaupt, nein... In diesem Buch scheint alles
vertreten zu sein, was sich so an reelen Charakteren auf der Straße tummelt. Aber keiner erscheint mir greifbar.
Und der Schreibstil nicht vorhanden.
Fazit und Empfehlung
Zu Andy P. Jones habe ich im Grunde nur einen Satz zu sagen: "Schuster bleib bei deinen Leisten." Irgendwie will
man zwar wissen wie es weiter geht, aber ob das nicht eher so eine Art ist wie wenn man ein totes Tier auf der
Straße sieht von dem man einfach nicht weg schauen kann. Ja, so war es glaube ich bei mir. Das einzige, was mir
an dem Buch wirklich zusagt ist das Cover, und das hat mal so gar nix mit dem Inhalt des Buches zu tun.
