Specially designed for ship applications
SCADA-System for automation and control, monitoring and
supervision
Pleiger is generating ship electronic solutions based on
decades of experience with marine systems technology,
using modern electronic techniques like fieldbus standards
customized to the requirements of on-board operations.
The Pleiger Process Control system (PPC) works as a singleor multi-station supervisory system in a network together
with the PCM and/or the PCL system. An industrial PC
(IPC-S) specially adapted to ship applications provides
integrated PLC and SCADA functions. By employing shock
resistant flash-memory, a very compact and robust casing,
multiple fieldbus interfaces and standard LAN interface,
this type approved hardware is an optimal and flexible
platform for ship automation.
The required functions of a central process control system
like alarm, monitoring and control procedures are
implemented using function-oriented graphical objects and
tested building blocks.
By using type approved small sized hardware and solidly
designed units for our SCADA system PPC (Pleiger Process
Control) operated in connection with type approved
standard software modules, we provide solutions for all
control, monitoring and supervision tasks.
Pleiger constructs de-centralized control systems with
compact distributed cabinets placed close to the actuators
and measuring points utilizing fieldbus communication
between PPC and PCM (Pleiger Control Modules).
By using fieldbus communication between PPC and PCL
(Pleiger Control Loop) systems, Pleiger controls the actuators
and measuring points directly via the fully-integrated
fieldbus interfaces.
PPC in combination with both, PCM and PCL systems,
allows for maximum versatility and optimal conformation for
a large range of applications on board.
Each combination of Pleiger fieldbus control for marine
systems provides reliable ship electronics solutions saving
space and cable installation on board significantly.
Based on a lot of applications, functions like
z Source/target control for ballast, bilge and fuel-oil systems,
z Single valve control, bunker valve automatic control,
z Tank-heating regulation, tank content visualization,
z Control of pumps and standby pumps, etc.,
are standard functions of the PPC system.
Pleiger ship electronics applications are solutions adapted
to the requirements of on-board operation, making a
long-term contribution in easing the burden on the
operating staff.
PCM Pleiger Control Modules
PCL Pleiger Control Loop
Remote and Local Control System for actuators, pumps,
bilge signals, tank levels and temperatures
Data Power Field Bus System for actuators, pumps,
bilge signals, tank levels and temperatures
The small sized modules of the PCM system are ideal suited
for designing compact control cabinets for de-centralized
control systems.
The PCL system eases the electrical installation significantly.
A single cable is used for power supply and data
communication. Connecting all valves and IO nodes by a
simple cable loop saves a lot of cable and cabling effort.
Bus interface module (BI):
The BI facilitates the communication between the PCM
modules and the process control system via Profibus DP or
Modbus RTU interface in a single module. DC power supply
and data bus connection to all CM3 and IO modules is
provided by a plug system that is integrated in the hat-rail.
Pluggable terminals are used for cabling of all modules.
EHS control module (CM3):
The 3rd generation of EHS-CM provides actuator control
functions for all of our actuator types and characteristics
combined in a single unit. A switch to change operation
mode, a double push button to key in commands and 3 LED
for status indication are provided for local operation (Backup)
of the actuators. In addition, the CM3 is designed for
direct connection to a mimic diagram for local operation.
IO-Module (IO 8/8/4):
The IO-Module with 8 analog inputs, 8 digital inputs and
4 digital outputs is used to record tank levels and limit
switches, to control pumps, etc.
Relay-Module (RK 16/8):
The relay module is equipped with 16 isolated digital inputs
and 8 output relays. Besides standard digital IO applications,
the module is especially suited for hydraulic valve control
within valve cabinets.
Besides, the PCL system offers powerful safety features.
Interruption or short circuit of data or power bus does not
cause a total system failure. In all cases of a single failure,
no more than 2 drives are affected. Interruptions and short
circuits of data or power bus are displayed and can be easily
located.
The redundant bus master consists of two independent
Pleiger Micro Controller units (PMC). The bus master system
controls up to 100 actuators. Local operation and parameter
setting is done by means of the operator panel of the bus
master.
The communication between the PCL interfaces and the
central process control is based on the Modbus RTU
standard. The valve control interface is either integrated
in the actuator’s case or in a separate interface box
(up to 3 interfaces). It provides an actuator interface
and control functions for all required actuator types.
The IO interface installed in an interface box has
8 analogue/digital inputs, 2 digital inputs and 2 digital
outputs. Its function is to acquire tank levels and limit
switches, to control pumps, etc.
The PCL system can be combined with the PCM system.
