Control KORG SongBook out of the App SongBook+
In this manual you can see how to connect the keyboard KORG Pa3X to the iPad in order to let the
keyboard remote select and open a song sheet a in the iPad when you select a song on the keyboard.
You will see also how you have to configure the keyboard and the iPad.
This should work not only on the KORG Pa3X but also on other KORG keyboards of the PA-series
that have a built-in SongBook feature.
Connecting iPad and keyboard
The USB connector on the backside of the
Pa3X is compatible with the iPad. So you
only need a standard USB cable as it is
also used to connect a printer with a
computer.
But because the iPad hasn’t a built-in
USB port you need also the “Camera
Connection Kit” from Apple to add a
USB port to the iPad.
Connect the USB port on the backside of your KORG PA3X with the
“Camera Adapter” that is connected to the iPad.
To check if the connection is working as expected, open in the
App “SongBook+” the built-in MIDI monitor by pressing the button
and then „MIDI / Bluetooth monitor“. Press then a few keys in the keyboard.
The pressed keys should appear on the screen.
Maybe you need to press the button “Restart MIDI” in order to get a
connection.
Settings on iPad

Then you have to make some settings on the keyboard in order that the keyboard is sending events to
the iPad when a song is selected:

The linking between songs in the KORG-SongBook and songs in the SongBook+ App on iPad is
made using the song number.
The songs in the KORG SongBook are not yet numbered in factory settings. To change the
song number of the currently selected song select the tab “Book Edit 2” and turn the wheel on
the keyboard. Already assigned numbers are no longer available for other songs.
