Mitgliederliste
Die internationale Genossenschaft Oikocredit zählt rund 600 Mitglieder. Zu ihnen
gehören vorwiegend Kirchen und kirchliche Institutionen, aber auch
Partnerorganisationen und Förderkreise, über die sich vor allem Privatpersonen
indirekt an Oikocredit beteiligen.
Einmal jährlich treffen sich die Mitglieder an der Generalversammlung. Dort werden
die Grundlagen der Geschäftspolitik beschlossen und der Verwaltungsrat gewählt.
Dabei hat jedes Mitglied unabhängig von der Investitionssumme eine Stimme.
Förderkreise
Privatpersonen können nicht direkt Mitglied der Genossenschaft Oikocredit werden.
Sie treten stattdessen einem der weltweit 30 Förderkreise bei, über den sie bei
Oikocredit Geld anlegen. Auch Vereine, Stiftungen und Gemeinden können auf diese
Weise in Oikocredit investieren.
Die Förderkreise selbst sind direkte Genossenschaftsmitglieder und vertreten die
Interessen ihrer Mitglieder. Die Förderkreise sind eigenständige Vereine und bringen
etwa 80 Prozent des Anteilskapitals von Oikocredit auf.
Kirchen
Früher legten die Kirchen ihre Gelder ausschliesslich bei den traditionellen Banken
an. Da diese jedoch häufig unethisch wirtschafteten, wurde Oikocredit 1975 als
alternative Anlagemöglichkeit für Kirchen gegründet. Mit den Jahren haben sich
immer mehr Kirchen verschiedenster Konfessionen für Oikocredit als nachhaltige
Geldanlage entschieden. So können sie ihr Kapital entwicklungsfördernd einsetzen.
Partnerorganisationen
Genossenschaften, Unternehmen und Organisationen, die von Oikocredit Darlehen
erhalten haben, können selbst Mitglieder werden. Mit ihren praktischen Erfahrungen
leisten die Partnerorganisationen einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Geschäftspolitik und
sorgen mit dafür, dass Oikocredit dem Ziel der sozialen und wirtschaftlichen
Entwicklung in benachteiligten Regionen verpflichtet bleibt. In der folgenden Aufstellung sind die Direktmitglieder von Oikocredit International
alphabetisch nach Ländern aufgeführt und in die Kategorien „Kirchen“, „kirchliche
Organisationen“, „Partnerorganisationen“, „Förderkreise“ und „Andere“ eingeteilt.
