Herstellungsverfahren
Das ätherische Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol wird durch Wasserdampfdestillation der Blätter und
Zweigspitzen des Rosmarin (Rosmarinus officinalis) gewonnen. Dabei dient heißer Wasserdampf als
Trägerstoff für die leicht flüchtigen organischen Komponenten. Durch die Nicht-Mischbarkeit der
organischen Bestandteile des ätherischen Öles und des Wassers findet beim Abkühlen eine spontane
Phasentrennung statt, so dass das reine ätherische Öl abgeschieden werden kann. Die Ausbeute liegt
zwischen 1 und 3%.[1,2]
Manufacturing method
The essential rosemary oil ct. cineole is obtained by water steam distillation of the leaves and twigs of the
rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis). Hot water steam is used as a carrier for the volatile organic compounds. Due
to the non miscibility of the organic compounds with water, the phases readily separate upon cooling and the
essential oil can be easily separated. The yield is between 1 and 3%.[1,2]
Botanischer Ursprung des Rosmarinöls ct. Cineol
Die Art Rosmarin (Rosmarinus officinalis) gehört zur Gattung
Rosmarinus (Unterfamilie: Nepetoideae) in der Familie der
Lippenblütler (Lamiaceae), welche zur Ordnung der Lippenblütlerartigen (Lamiales) zählt. Ursprünglich stammt der
Rosmarin aus dem westlichen und dem zentralem Mittelmeerraum. Heute wird der Rosmarin weltweit als Gewürzpflanze
angebaut. Rosmarin wächst als immergrüner, buschiger Strauch
und wird zwischen 20 cm und 2 Meter hoch. Die Äste haben
eine braune Rinde, die bei älteren Ästen häufig abblättert und
stehen aufrecht. Die schmal-linealen, 10 bis 40 mm langen
Blätter sind zwischen 1.5 und 3 mm breit. Sie sind sitzend und
stehen gegenständig. Die Oberseite ist dunkelgrün und rau,
während die Blattunterseite hell und filzig behaart ist. Die
hellblauen, rosa oder weißen Blüten können das ganze Jahr über gebildet werden. [3]

Botanical origin of essential rosemary oil ct. cineole
The species rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) belongs to the genus Rosmarinus (subfamily: Nepetoideae) in the
Lamiaceae family, which is in the order of Lamiales. Originally, the rosemary comes from the western and
central Mediterranean. Today, rosemary is cultivated worldwide as a spice plant. Rosemary grows as an
evergreen, bushy shrub and reaches a height between 20 cm and 2 m. The branches are brown and stand upright.
The bark peels off commonly at older branches. The narrow-lineal, 10 to 40 mm long leaves are between 1.5 and
3 mm wide. They are sitting and opposite. The top of the leaf is dark green and rough, while the lower leaf
surface is light and hairy. The light blue, pink or white flowers may be formed throughout the year.[3]
Charakterisierung
Das ätherische Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol ist eine leicht bewegliche, farblose bis gelbliche, manchmal auch
grünliche Flüssigkeit. Es hat einen würzig-erfrischenden, charakteristischen Duft. Das ätherische Öl
löst sich sehr gut in Alkohol (1:1, Ethanol 90%), Pflanzenölen und anderen ätherischen Ölen. Es ist
nahezu unlöslich in Wasser. Hauptbestandteile des ätherischen Rosmarinöls ct. Cineol sind 1,8Cineol, Pinen-Isomere und Kampfer. In geringeren Konzentrationen sind Borneol, α-Terpineol,
Limonen, Caryophyllen, Myrcen, p-Cumol, und Bornylacetat enthalten.[2]
Characterisation
The essential rosemary oil ct. cineole is an easily movable, colourless to yellowish, sometimes even greenish
liquid. It has a spicy refreshing and characteristic smell. The essential oil is very good soluble in alcohol (1:1,
ethanol 90%), vegetable oils and other essential oils. It is almost insoluble in water. Main components of
essential rosemary oil ct. cineole are 1,8-cineole, pinenes and camphor. Borneol, α-terpineol, limonene,
caryophyllene, myrcene, p-cymene and bornyl acetate are included in lower concentrations.[2]
Arzneiliche Verwendung, Phytotherapie
Die Inhaltsstoffe des ätherischen Rosmarinöls ct. Cineol besitzen eine Reihe von gesundheitlich
relevanten Eigenschaften.

gilt als das
am stärksten
durchblutungsfördernde ätherische Öl. Beim Auftragen auf die Haut sinkt die Temperatur, während
gleichzeitig die Durchblutung jedoch gefördert wird. Es kann daher bei Neuralgien, rheumatischen
Beschwerden und Muskelkater als Massageöl oder Ölbad angewandt werden. Desweiteren wirkt
ätherisches Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol stark mukolytisch (schleimlösend) und kann bei Erkältungskrankheiten (Bronchitis, Sinusitis, Otitis) zur Massage, Inhalation oder als Ölbad genutzt werden. Bei
Abszessen oder Harnwegsinfekten wirkt ätherisches Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol stark bakterizid gegen
eine Reihe von Bakterienstämmen (Staphylokokken, Streptokokken, Escherichia coli) und kann als
direkte Auftragung angewandt werden. Gleichzeitig wirkt ätherisches Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol auch
gegen Pilzerkrankungen, insbesondere gegen Candida albicans. Es kann dann als Einreibung oder
Ölbad angewandt werden.[4,5]

Die ätherischen Öle werden im Mandelöl gelöst. Mit dieser Mischung wird der Hals mehrmals täglich

Medical use, phytotherapy
The compounds of essential rosemary oil ct. cineole have a number of health-related properties. Rosemary oil
ct. cineole is considered the essential oil that stimulates blood circulation the most. When applied to the skin,
the temperature decreases, while the blood circulation is promoted, however. It can therefore be used as a massage
oil or oil bath in neuralgia, rheumatism and muscle soreness. Furthermore, rosemary oil ct. cineole has a
strong mucolytically (expectorant) effect and can be used for colds (bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis) for massage,
inhalation, or as an oil bath. With abscesses or urinary tract infections rosemary oil ct. cineole has a strong
bactericidal effect against a number of bacterial strains (Staphylococci, Streptococci, E. coli) and may be used as
a direct application. Rosemary oil ct. cineole acts simultaneously against fungal diseases, particularly against
Candida albicans. It can then be applied as an ointment or oil bath.[4,5]
Recipe for a cooling mixture in sore throat:
3 dr. rosemary oil ct. cineole
4 dr. niauli oil
2 dr. lavender oil
2 dr. peppermint oil
15 mL of almond oil
The essential oils are dissolved in almond oil. With this mixture the neck is rubbed several times a day.
Aromatherapie
Ätherisches Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol wirkt in der Aromatherapie stärkend auf das Gedächtnis und die
Konzentrationsfähigkeit. Ätherisches Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol wird deshalb bei allgemeinen
Konzentrationsstörungen und Schwächezuständen vorwiegend als Ölbad oder in der Duftlampe
angewandt.[2]
Aromatherapy
In aromatherapy, essential rosemary oil ct. cineole has a strengthening effect on memory and concentration.
Rosemary oil ct. cineole is therefore used in general debility and impaired concentration, mainly as an oil bath
or in a diffuser.[4,5]

Verwendung in der Küche
Das ätherische Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol wird im Allgemeinen nicht zur Zubereitung von Speisen und
Getränken verwendet. Gleichwohl wird es im industriellen Maßstab als Aroma für würzige und
mediterrane Speisen eingesetzt.[2]

Essential rosemary oil ct. cineole is generally not used for the preparation of food and beverages. Nevertheless,
it is used on an industrial scale as a flavoring for spicy and Mediterranean food.[2]
Anwendung in der Kosmetik
Das ätherische Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol wird in der Parfümerie überwiegend für Kräuter-, Farn- und
Ambra-Noten eingesetzt. Weiterhin ist es Bestandteil in Eau de Cologne, Lavendelwasser und wird in
einer Vielzahl von Körperpflegemittel (Seife, Shampoo, Deodorantien) verwendet. Ätherisches
Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol eignet sich sehr gut für Mischungen mit Kiefernadel, Lavendel, Lorbeer,
Majoran, Mandarine, Myrte, Tanne, Thymian, Ysop und Zitrone.[2]
Use in Cosmetic
Essential rosemary oil ct. cineole is used in perfumery mainly for herbs, ferns and amber notes. It is also an
ingredient in eau de cologne, lavender water and is used in a wide variety of personal care products (soap,
shampoo, deodorants). Rosemary oil ct. cineole is very suitable for mixtures with pine needle, lavender, bay,
marjoram, mandarin, myrtle, pine, thyme, hyssop and lemon.[2]
Anwendungs- und Warnhinweise, Nebenwirkungen
Einige der Inhaltstoffe von ätherischem Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol sind als gesundheitlich bedenklich
einzustufen. Ätherisches Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol darf nicht innerlich eingenommen werden und kann
zu Hautreizungen führen. 1,8-Cineol kann bei dermaler Anwendung bei empfindlichen Personen zu
Hautreizungen und Ekzemen führen, bei oraler Aufnahme sind Gastroenteritis und Nierenreizung
möglich. Pinen-Isomere können bei dermaler Anwendung bei empfindlichen Personen zu
Hautreizungen und Ekzemen führen, bei oraler Aufnahme sind Nierenreizungen möglich. Limonen
und Linalool haben ein allergenes Potential. Ätherisches Rosmarinöl ct. Cineol eignet sich nicht für
die äußere Anwendung bei Schwangeren, Säuglingen und Kleinkindern. Beachten Sie auch die

Some of the compounds of essential rosemary oil ct. cineole are categorized as harmful to health. Essential
rosemary oil ct. cineole may not used internal and can cause skin irritation. 1,8-cineole can lead to skin
irritation and eczema in susceptible individuals, when taken orally gastroenteritis and kidney irritation are
possible. When applied dermal, pinenes can lead to skin irritation and eczema in susceptible individuals, when
taken orally, kidney irritations are possible. Limonene and linalool have an allergenic potential. Essential

rosemary oil ct. cineole is not suitable for external use in pregnant women, infants and young children. Also
note the reference in the material safety data sheet and the product specification.[2,4]
