All courses are taught in English and all non-native speakers are required to demonstrate that they have an appropriate level of spoken and
written English for full academic and social participation. The level recommended is Level C1 in the Common European Framework of
Reference for Languages (CEFR), although B2 will be accepted in most subject areas, including European Studies & Modern Languages.
Please note that the School of Management always requires proof of C1 level.
In practice, most departments are usually looking for students to have a score of at least 6.0 in the British Council/IELTS English language
test, or of at least 80 in the internet-based TOEFL test (213 in the computer-based test or 550 in the paper-based test), or of at least B in the
Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English. Entrants to the School of Management are required to have a score of at least 6.5 in IELTS, or of
at least 92 (237, 580) in TOEFL, or of at least B in the Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English, or of at least C in the Cambridge
Certificate of Proficiency in English.
If you have not yet taken an external test please give full details of your level of English, including how long you have been studying the
language and the results of any exams (school, university etc.) which you have taken, and include a statement from your academic tutor
attesting to the level which you have achieved. Remember that we need to know the level of any university English test which you have taken
as well as your result.
If you are not able to provide us with satisfactory evidence that you have a sufficient level of English, we may require you to take an English
test.

Please note that participation in our courses in English requires a good command of English. We therefore, ask you to guarantee that if
English is not your native language, the standard of your spoken and written English is sufficient, by including one of the following documents:

Level B1 of the CEFR for regular course taught in French and English, Level A1 for the courses offered by the School of French as a Foreign
Language (EFLE), and the winter Holiday Courses (Cours de vacances)
The University of Ljubljana offers instruction in the following languages: Slovenian and English. The University of Ljubljana requires that the
student has very good language skills (very good knowledge in reading, writing and speaking of the language) in at least one of the two
languages in order to be able to study here. Please note that fluent language skills in Slovenian (or English) are vital for successful studies at
the University of Ljubljana. If the language requirements are not met, the University of Ljubljana will not accept you.
Students must present a certificate of their English language skills. Very good language skills refers to level B2 on the CERF scale of the
European Language Portfolio Levels. Language skills in English are listed on the Transcript of Credits of the home university; or Submit the
Language Certificate with CERF scale; or Submit TOEFL score of 79 (IBT) or IELTS score of 6.
