freight and offer a full range of services from one source. Düsseldorf Airport Cargo was founded as a full subsidiary of Dusseldorf
Airport in 2001. Our 160 employees, our direct airport ramp access and ultra modern equipment guarantee airlines and logistics companies highly professional, smooth and rapid handling
of all imports and exports. We currently handle around 100,000
tons annually and the volume is growing.

Düsseldorf Airport Cargo’s highly qualified staff handles import
and export cargo transfers for more than 30 airlines at Dusseldorf, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We receive the freight from
the aircraft or airline trucks and forwarders as well as carry out
physical handling and sorting. We are able to demonstrate supreme competence when dealing with interim storage and loading. The inward movement of goods in storage and handling areas is supervised by security personnel, aided by modern camera
technology. This guarantees secure storage and the seamless
documentation of all shipments. We are a regulated agent and
fulfill all criteria of the LBA (German Federal Aviation Authority)
and FAA.

Access controls: to the airport ramp, operational and storage

Camera surveillance: ultra-modern cameras allocated on the
outdoor and indoor premises ensure that shipments are monitored at all times and locations. Data storage of up to 60 days.
Freight control: with ultra-modern Smiths Heimann x-ray machines (tunnel size: 1,800 mm (w) x 1,800 mm (h); max. load:
3,000 kg/item) and Explosives Trace Detection System (ETD)
which comply with the criteria of the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt
(LBA). Complete scanning of ULDs is also possible.

Düsseldorf Airport – Facts and figures
Düsseldorf Airport ist, gemessen am Passagiervolumen, der
drittgrößte Verkehrsflughafen in Deutschland mit einem Ter­
minalvolumen von 22 Millionen Passagieren. Das Flughafen­
betriebsgelände umfasst 6.063.141 qm, die Vorfeldfläche
beträgt 758.647 qm.
In den Betriebszeiten von 06.00–22.00 Uhr für Starts und von
06.00–23.00 Uhr für Landungen stehen zwei Cat.III B- Startund Landebahnen zur Verfügung, die Südbahn (05R/23L, 3000
Meter) und die Parallelbahn (05L/23R, 2700 Meter). Insgesamt
stehen den Airlines 89 Parkpositionen und 27 Terminalpositionen zur Verfügung.
Die Be- und Entladungen der Maschinen sowie die Versorgung von Menschen und Maschinen werden von rund 18.200
Mitarbeitern der am Flughafen ansässigen ca. 208 Unternehmen
sichergestellt. Alle notwendigen Gerätschaften zur Flugzeugabfertigung sind vorhanden. Vom 30-Tonnen-Highloader für die
Be- / Entladung von Frachtmaschinen über Fluggasttreppen bis
zur Ground-Power-Unit kann jeder Maschinentyp abgefertigt
werden. Für die Abfertigung von Frachtmaschinen können die
LVG zwischen verschieden Anbietern wählen.
Düsseldorf Airport is ranked the third-largest commercial airport
in Germany in terms of passengers with a terminal volume of
22 million persons. The airport premises cover 6,063,141 sq. m,
the airport ramp covers 758,647 sq. m.
Two Cat. III B take-off and landing runways, the south runway
(05R/23L, 3000 metres) and the parallel runway (05L/23R, 2700
metres) are open during operating hours from 06:00 a.m. to
10:00 p.m. for take-offs and from 06:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. for
landings. A total of 89 parking and 27 terminal spaces are available for airlines.
Approximately 18,200 employees of the nearly 208 companies
operating at the airport reliably handle loading and unloading of
aircrafts, as well as care of aircraft and visitors. All equipment
necessary for aircraft handling is present. All aircraft types are
handled from the 30 tonne high loader for loading and unloading
cargo planes to passenger stairs to the ground power unit.
Airlines can select one of many providers for handling cargo
planes.

Düsseldorf Airport Cargo hat eine Kapazität von ca. 130.000
Tonnen pro Jahr. Für eine optimale, reibungslose und sichere
Abfertigung und Lagerung Ihrer Waren sind wir rund um die Uhr
im Einsatz. Hierfür stehen rund 1.800 Kubikmeter Kühlräume
(COL), verschiedene Gefahrguträume (DGR), ein Wertraum
(VAL), ein Radioaktivraum (RRY) sowie ein Raum für sterbliche
Überreste (HUM) zur Verfügung.
Über ELWIS, unser Elektronisches Lagerwirtschafts- und Informationssystem, garantieren wir die reibungslose Kommunikation
aller in die Transportkette eingebundenen Unternehmen wie
Speditionen, Luftfahrtgesellschaften, Flughäfen und Behörden,
und dadurch letztlich eine schnellstmögliche Abwicklung aller
Frachtgüter. Darüber hinaus ist ELWIS in der Lage mit anderen
Airline-Systemen zu kommunizieren und ist bereits für die Abwicklung elektronischer Frachtsendungen (e-freight) gerüstet.
Düsseldorf Airport Cargo has a capacity of approximately
130,000 tonnes per year. We are ready to perform around the
clock to ensure optimum, smooth and reliable handling and
storage of your goods. Approximately 1,800 cubic metres of cold
stores (COL), various rooms for dangerous goods (DGR), a room
for valuables (VAL), a radioactive protection room (RRY) and a
human remains acceptance area (HUM) are available for this
purpose.
With ELWIS, our electronic warehouse management and information system, we guarantee smooth communication with all
companies including forwarding agencies, airlines, airports and
authorities and consequently the fastest possible handling of all
cargo. ELWIS is also capable of communicating with other airlines systems and is already equipped to handle electronic shipments (e-freight).

Die Rolle als Cargo-HUB können Flughäfen immer dann für sich
in Anspruch nehmen, wenn diese Heimatbasis einer großen
Frachtfluggesellschaft sind und wenn in Folge dessen Spediteure dort ihre eigenen Konsolidierungszentren unterhalten und
vermehrt Waren bündeln. Dies trifft etwa auf Frankfurt (Lufthansa Cargo), Paris (Air France) oder Singapur (Singapore Airlines)
zu. Die Folge dieser Entwicklung: Heute wird rund die Hälfte der
weltweiten Luftfracht über etwa 30 HUBs abgewickelt.
Trotzdem gewinnen sekundäre (Fracht-)Flughäfen wie Düsseldorf auf Grund ihrer Spezialisierung – sowohl hinsichtlich bestimmter Industrien und Frequenzen als auch hinsichtlich der
Abgangs- und Zielgebiete – stärker an Bedeutung. Eine hohe
Anzahl an vor Ort tätigen Spediteuren, moderne Umschlag­
anlagen und qualifiziertes Personal sorgen für schnelle und reibungslose Abfertigung und sind neben der kontinuierlichen
Nachfrage weitere Erfolgsgaranten dafür, „DUS“ in das Netzwerk
zu integrieren.
Airports become a cargo HUB when they act as a home base for
a large cargo carrier and if, as a result, their freight forwarders
operate their own consolidation centres on location and pool
cargo to an increasing degree. This applies for example to
Frankfurt (Lufthansa Cargo), Paris (Air France) or Singapore
(Singapore Airlines). This trend has resulted in approximately
30 HUBs responsible for handling half of the world’s cargo.
Nonetheless, secondary (cargo) airports like Düsseldorf are
becoming increasingly important due to their specialisation with
respect to certain industries, frequencies and also with respect
to origin and target regions. A large number of freight forwarders
active on location, modern handling equipment and qualified
personnel guarantee fast, trouble-free handling and in addition
to steady demand, ensure successful integration of „DUS“ in the
network.

deutsche und europäische Flughäfen durch feste LKWTransport­linien über Nacht verbindet. Unser RunAir-Netzwerkpartner, die ATS Air Truck Service GmbH, unterhält Nahverkehrsstrecken zu zahlreichen Flughäfen im Raum NRW sowie in
die Niederlande und nach Niedersachsen. Darüber hinaus betreibt die ATS Air Truck Service GmbH mit ihren Sprintern und
Sattelzügen täg­liche Trucklinien innerhalb Deutschlands und ins
europäische Ausland. Alle Fahrzeuge sind mit einem Telematiksystem ausgerüstet, das eine lückenlose Überwachung der
Fahrzeuge via GPS und die Dokumentation der Aufträge von der

With its sprinters and articulated trucks, ATS Air Truck Service
GmbH operates daily truck lines in Germany and other European
countries. All vehicles are equipped with a telematic system that
ensures seamless GPS monitoring of the vehicles and documentation of orders from placement to order history.
For the airlines with headquarters in Düsseldorf, this partnership means they have a proven trucking network at their disposal, with which they can link their customers to Germany and Europe overnight. This is a classic win-win situation for airlines,
