This worksheet is intended to provide structure to your research activities and to help you find langnage that you
can then apply when you write your research desciption and your message.During youl researchyou wiil
piobably want to take notes in addition to what you wdte on fte workrheet.
1. List here at least 3 websites or other music-related resources (music store catalo& library book, etc.) that you
found usetul for this project. Give a shoft description of each (in English, if you want). Aim for these kinds of
resourcesrbsts of usetul Lnes (for example, clubs where that kind of music is played); peEonat inJormation about
people interested in the music (r6sum€s,chatrooms / buletin boards), detailed descriptions oI the music (often on
personal webpages, but also in chats or fan-goup electsonic newsletteG or advertisemmts for bands); audio and
visual resources(M?3 downloads,etc.)

The BESTCeltic rock site that I have encountered; better than English
sites. More comprehensiweand woridly with more band
rcprcsentation. Abo has forums, chat roons, videos. and a streaming
mdio.

2. List here two pieces oI music (online 6les, conventional rccordurgs, musical scores) from the target culture that
you found in your resouices, and provide t}!e sources

Notes about searching for vocabulary: Expect to find most of your words right on dle websites, and in some cases
to have to understand them by context nther than looking them up in a dicdonary or using the English ve$ion of
a website. There are two rcasons:1) some of the words that are most usetul may well not be in your dicdonary
2) words change meaning over time and space- your dictionary may not give the dght word. r you do use an
English-German dictionary, you must be cautious. After you find a word you think js Oreone you want, look it up
in the German-English d ection. Example: a "sca]e" in music is a "Tonleiter"; in measuring *fngs, a "scale" js can
be a "Waage" (for weighing ftings), a "Skala" (distance on a map), or a "Gebiihrenordnung" (table of financial
charges). If you used one of those last three words rn a conversation or messageabout music, only a native
speaker of Geman wi& extremely advanced English skils would be able to decipher what you meant, and even
then it might take quite a while to do that.
