the Reproductive System Cancer Centre at the Düsseldorf
University Hospital that was certified by the German
Cancer Society.
The following pages aim on the one hand to introduce
the people who make the Department of Gynaecology
unique and, on the other hand, to provide you with a
brief overview of our services.
We offer:
• Advanced methods of examination and early diagnosis
• Minimally invasive endoscopic surgeries
• Restoration of function and shape through reconstruction surgeries
• Individualised drug therapies including chemotherapy,
antibody therapy and the use of new substances often
in connection with the latest clinical studies
• Preservation of ovarian tissue and ovules prior to chemotherapy adapted to individual requirements (Fertiprotect).

The Interdisciplinary Gynaecology Cancer Centre
Conservative Methods of Gynaecologic Oncology
As an interdisciplinary gynaecology cancer centre certified
by the German Cancer Society, we offer a comprehensive
range of quality-orientated services based on the solid
infrastructure of a university hospital to treat all gynaecological tumours.
Systemic therapies play a very important role in the
treatment of gynaecologic malignancies.
A tumour board consisting of a committee of professionals from different disciples will assess each individual
case and propose the most suitable treatment scheme.
External physicians are also welcome to present and discuss their cases with the tumour board.
We also provide consultation in our ambulatory clinic to
patients who require systemic therapy.

In the year 2013, the Cancer Centre of the Düsseldorf
University hospital was rated as an Oncology Centre of
Excellence (Comprehensive Cancer Centre).
In the interdisciplinary centre all oncology cases are
assessed in collaboration between several partners during
a weekly tumour board meeting. Our surgical treatments
comprise all kinds of gynaecological oncologic interventions, implementing minimally invasive approaches and
fertility-preserving procedures whenever appropriate. In
addition, as a university interdisciplinary centre, we offer
novel and innovative techniques of diagnosis and treatment, including PET/CT, hyperthermia treatments, electrochemotherapy and HIPEC.
Our team of gynaecologists possesses wide expertise in the
field of gynaecological oncologic surgeries. Our outpatient
clinic also offers second opinions.
Different groups of professionals work together to provide
patients with the best services. These include doctors,
nursing staff, psycho-oncologists, consultants of palliative
medicine and social workers.
Our aim is always to provide individualised professional
and integrated care to patients and their families.

Certified Centre for Dysplasia
Through our certified dysplasia consultation services, we
can also provide diagnosis and treatment for all kinds of
cellular changes (pre-stages and malignant changes) in
the peri-vaginal area (vulva), in the vagina and in the
cervix (abnormal cervical smears). Other fields of expertise include infections to the genital area and vulvar skin
diseases.

After diagnosis is made, treatment is started depending
on the extent of cellular changes. Our wide range of treatment methods includes minimally invasive approaches,
conservative laser surgery in the pre-stages of malignancy, as well as extensive cancer surgeries together with
labial restoration and plastic surgeries (for example in
cases of fused vulva, narrow vagina, etc.).
Aiming to limit the spread of
disease, and whenever possible,
