Vienna’s Shooting Girls Vienna’s Shooting Girls - Jewish Women Photographers from Vienna phers provides a representative insight into the history of Austrian photography in the first decades of the twentieth century. Dora Kallmus (d’Ora), Trude Fleischmann, Alice Schalek, Edith Tudor Hart and many others shaped not only studio photography but also reportage and fine art photography. The portraits in particular give an idea of the cultural life © JMW/Sonja Bachmayer B efore 1938 an unusually large number of photo studios in Vienna were run by Jewish women, who were also outstanding photographers. The Jewish Museum Vienna explores the underlying causes and makes a great period in the history of Viennese Jewish women accessible again.
