Betriebsanleitung Operating Instructions R SSI-Controller SSI controller Sachnr. It reads the serial synchronous Gray code values transferred from the shaft encoder, converts them into parallel data values and passes them on to the PLC. serial multiturn RM parallel SSI controller PLC 24 V DC power supply The SSI controller can be adapted to various units and applications: • direction of counting (increasing or decreasing values) selectable irrespective of encoder • output signals either in binary or BCD code • zero position freely selectable • resolution of the shaft encoder adjustable (multiturn and singleturn parts can be selected separately) • multiplexing possible: several controllers can be operated at the same time without any problems • integrated checking and self-monitoring function Controls and indicators switch for defining the zero position slide switch for the direction of counting slide switch for the output code D00 D01 D02 D03 D04 D05 D06 D07 D08 D09 D10 D11 D12 D13 D14 D15 D16 D17 D18 D19 D20 D21 D22 LSB Ausgänge - Output Singleturnbereich NullPosition Skalierfaktor Multiturn Singleturn LSB Ausgänge - Output Multiturnbereich Drehsinn links POWER BCD RUN SSI - Controller Bestell-Nr.: E65005 24 V DC D45127 Essen SSI-Encoder-Input Netz 24V UN UP n.c. n.c. 10^3 D D 10^2 T 10^1 T 10^0 2^n ERROR Binär Drehsinn rechts Ausgänge - Output Multiturnbereich STR RST OEN DAV PYB D30 D29 D28 D27 D26 D25 D24 D23 selector switch for the resolution LEDs for indicating operating status and errors Installation Snap the SSI controller onto a 35mm standard DIN rail or fix it on a mounting support via the two holes in the back of the housing. Electrical connection Disconnect power before the controller is connected! To avoid any interference lay the controller cable and the cables of power equipment separately: a distance of 20cm is usually sufficient. If the transfer cable between encoder and SSI controller is extended, the minimum value of the operating voltage of the encoder must be guaranteed. If this output is not connected to the PLC, the data outputs are permanently free. (STR) = Strobe: Input for the signal for calling up the current encoder value. With a “high-low” edge at STR the last complete encoder value in the data buffer is made available to the PLC. (DAV) = Data valid: When the data are called by the strobe signal, these data are valid when the DAV output is “high”. In the case of a low signal on this output the following errors might have occurred: • transfer error of SSI module • measured values exceeding the programmed resolution (PYB) = output for internal parity information. The parity is formed from the complete data word of singleturn and multiturn parts. When the sum of all “high” outputs including the parity output is even, this output is “high”. Setting instructions Types of code Depending on the code required set slide switch to “Binär” (binary) or “BCD”. Direction of rotation When set to “Drehsinn rechts” (direction of rotation clockwise), the controller provides increasing values if the shaft encoder turns clockwise (view at the shaft), if it turns anti-clockwise, the shaft encoder provides decreasing values. When set to “Drehsinn links” (direction of rotation anti-clockwise), the direction of counting is inversed: if the shaft encoder turns clockwise, the controller provides decreasing, if it turns anti-clockwise increasing values. Operational status and error indications are signalled by three LEDs.
