OF
TRAGEDY
Nach ihrem von den einschlägigen Magazinen hoch gelobten zweiten Longplayer „a
fallen angel’s voice“ legen decon nun mit „The Birth of Tragedy“ eine neue CD vor.
Härter aber auch gleichzeitig melodischer geht es hier zur Sache – Metal auf der Höhe
der Zeit. Für den druckvollen Sound war wieder einmal der Soundmagier Andreas
Vieten (www.pvl-pro.de, Sonic Sound Studios, Viersen) verantwortlich. In ihren Texten
verarbeitet die Band politische, literarische und persönliche Themen. Das
Gesamtkonzept behandelt – frei nach dem von Friedrich Nietzsche entlehnten Motto –
antike und moderne Tragödien: vom Aufstieg Orpheus’ aus der Unterwelt bis zu
Amerikas moralischem Niedergang im 21. Jahrhundert. Der Weg vom Mythos bis zum
Realität gewordenen mythischen (also vorzivilisatorischen) Verhalten ist dabei nicht
weit. Optisch ergänzt wird diese lyrische Bandbreite von Peter Hoffmanns
(www.glashaus-design.de) brillianter mehrseitiger Cover- und Bookletgestaltung (zu
sehen im Multimediapart der beiliegenden Promo-CD).

man made of clay. broken hearts shimmering. a midsummernight’s dream. thousands of lost souls brought to the
ground. ashes you leave. given to the ground. dust to dust. and I just long to be what you see in me. my final revenge. if
I had wings I’d learn to fly. a tragical comedy. all senses surrounded by laughter.
V. The Emperor.
drowning in these shades of melancholy. waiting for the world to pass me by. my astral fate. these dreary nights will
never end. I’m thinking of the golden times. waiting for the world to call my might. my thoughts are flying through the
ancient times. recollecting patterns of human sorrow. what am I to do? how did I lose control? in this never ending war
I sold my soul to the stars. maybe I’m longing for peace in a world of war. maybe I’m longing for power. what is power
for?
VI. The Complaint.
you’ve been mislead by the thoughts in your head. the blood that has been shed. a false idol you’ve prayed to. a long
way to realize. you can’t accept they will be swept away. you’ve watched your sons die. a holy war. tears of mankind.
they obeyed the command. oh mother weep. they are gone to kill and die. oh mother weep. they are bound to die. we
drown in blood. the extermination of mankind I see.
VII. Bringing out the Dead.
through the rivers of endless grieve a lonely song sent him relieve. the gray shades of tomorrow turned into the rivers of
sorrow. don’t turn around. just take my hand. just feel my song. I’ll bring you back from the dead. the artist’s delusion.

VIII. Battle of the Wounded.

and revelation. someone’s killing pain. a devastated life. an unknown revelation. purification of the wounded. cleansing
of souls. the politics of ecstasy. the visions he just cannot flee. the battle of the wounded broken hearted souls. this
tragedy. this symphony of ecstasy.

behind the curtains a hidden secret. everything I ever dreamt of. unknown faces staring at me. the key to the world. a
truth to big to bear. a new empire will rise. built on the ashes of our fallen world. you pray in vain. the idol you adore is
worth nothing. watch as the earth dies. there he sits and contemplates as nothing has happened.
X. My Only Love Sprung from My Only Hate.
we wait and cry as romeo dies. we wait and cry as juliette dies. blinded by the light that shines upon me. led into the
chamber of flickering glances. there is silence in the womb. placelessness in our loneliness. feelings rotting in this
lonely hell. and all we know. and all we’ve known. still my bleeding heart. still their aching wounds. she left the
flowers here slowly rotting. the glass is broken. homelessness in our loneliness. the walls seem to come closer. I’m
descending.
XI. State of Decay.
you taste it. you breathe it. you burn it. you feel it. this state of decay. decay of reason. war is our state of mind. enter
the burning flame. dance to the rhythm of shame. let’s get the game started. in our years of decay to the child we pray.
redemption to unfold for the weak and the sold. the watchers. the soldiers. your idol is sitting on the philosopher’s
stone. he’s watching and waiting as time passes him by. your idol is sinking down. if you play with fire you might get
burned.
XII. Midas’ Touch.
I feel them growing stronger. they soon will take control. these demons in my head they keep on coming back for more.
this touch of gold is killing me. the deepest passion. my deepest needs. I kneel down to pray to my gods. give me back
my life. take away this touch of gold. this love. untouchable. these dreams. untouchable. and in my dreams everything I
touch stops breathing. and in my dreams they soon will take control. and now I understand.
