Bis 2015 will
das Unternehmen auf eine Gewinnungsmenge von 35,77 t
(1150 koz) kommen. Auf dem 5. Platz im Ranking liegt
momentan Polymetal, die 9,6 t (309 koz) Gold erzeugt
haben. Das Unternehmen gewinnt neben Gold auch Silber
und Kupfer. Die Gold äquivalente Produktionsmenge beträgt
18,63 t (599 koz). Bis zum Jahr 2013 soll die Menge auf
43,55 t (1 400 koz) gesteigert werden.
3 Weitergehende Trends
russische Industrialisierung zunimmt.Allein das Unternehmen

Further trends
In Russia, the exploitation of mineral resources will be significantly expanded in the coming years. One important
factor in this development is Russia’s strategic location close
to China with its huge demand for raw materials. The enormous distances between Russia’s Asiatic region and Western
Europe have limited profitability and marketing opportunities for Russian raw materials there, even though rail transportation is relatively cheap in Russia. The increasing orientation of the Russian market towards China and Asia appears
to promise more favourable opportunities. One negative
aspect of currentt developments is the fact that the increasing
consumption
ion of coal by Russia’s energy utilities and steel
industry is giving
ng rise to worries about the increasing envienvi
ronmentall impact of the country’s industrialization process.
Just one company, SUEK, has announced plans to increase its

of new Russian
ussian investors like OneXim have entered the
market in order to participate, for instance, in the booming
copper and
nd nickel businesses, while more and more foreign
investors are also
so being attracted. The mentioned activities of
Kinross and Petropavlosk in the gold mining sector are just
the first examples
es of a growing trend. The Chinese firm
Liaoning Xiyang is currently opening up an iron ore deposdepos
it for an output of 4 mta only 20 km north of the border
with Inner
er Mongolia. Large international mining companies
like BHP Billiton,
n, Rio Tinto and Barrick Gold are entering
the market with joint ventures and investments. The Russian
government is planning
anning to raise taxes on the extraction of oil
and gas and presumably also on the mining of mineral
resources in order to reduce the national deficit.
