Classroom-phrases Domino Race Level: Beginners Time: 3-5 minutes Objective: practicing the classroom phrases in English (Introduce the new language before playing the game.) Aim of the game: to go through all the sentences as fast as possible Instructions for the teacher: Copy the table of classroom sentences and cut them along the lines. Hand out one piece per student. If there are more sentences than students, hand out the remaining ones to the better students. Have a stopwatch ready to time the race. The aim of the game is to go through the whole set of sentences as fast as possible. One student reads out a German sentence. The others quickly check their English sentences. The student who has the matching English sentence reads it out as quickly as possible and then reads the German sentence on the same card. Do this until all the sentences have been used. The student who started the game with the first German sentence will have to read his/her English sentence last. Take the time and write it on the board. (usually 2-3 minutes) Reshuffle the cards and play another round. The students should now try to be faster than the first time and break their record. Write down the times and play the game again at the beginning of the next lesson. Classes get better and better at it. E. Pölzleitner classroomphrases-chain.docx / 2015-11-29 / Page 1 of 3 I’m sorry.
