The Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) and the Dusit Thani College, in Thailand,
have formed a partnership in order to organize a Summer International
Exchange Program, which is due to take place from July 13–19 in Bangkok.
The training course is designed for full-time undergraduate students from
higher education institutions around the world.
Attendees will be able to further their knowledge of Thai culture and cuisine,
as well as developing their social networking skills, the IFT said in a statement.
During the program, participants will attend seminars, workshops and field
visits; senior scholars and other professionals from various areas will also
share their experiences throughout the program.
The IFT has been organizing this international exchange program since 1998,
suggesting a different theme each year.

Two masters students from the Department of English, Faculty of Arts and
Humanities, namely Qiao Liangyu and Wang Qiyue, won the second prize and
the Excellence Award at the Third CTPC Cup All China Interpreting Contest
held in Beijing.
Their instructor Dr Victoria Lei also received the Distinguished Teacher Award.
During their trip to Beijing, Qiao and Wang also took part in the Simultaneous
Interpreting Invitational Tournament, and each won an Excellence Award.
Organized by the Translators Association of China, the biennial CTPC Cup is a
prestigious interpreting contest in China. This year, close to 1,000 contestants
from more than 100 universities and colleges in the Greater China region took
part in the qualifying rounds, which began in September 2013. 25 made it to
the final, which was recently held at Beijing University of International Studies.

The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the MSAR
was opened for local university students to visit. The Deputy Commissioner,
Feng Tie, introduces the Office and their works for students. Some students say
that the activity will help them understand the Office, hoping that the Office will
open for the public every week at least one time in the future in order to increase
the public’s understanding on the Office.
Feng Tie says that this year is the 15th anniversary of Macau’s return to the
motherland, and is also the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Office
of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the MSAR. […]
Attendance to the activity included more than 60 students from University of
Macau, Macau Polytechnic Institute, and Macau University of Science and
Technology.
