I created a layout with variable parameters. This
allowed me to change pictures, fonts and typo­­­gra­
phical details in each book.
An easy access is given to the reader by wellstruc­tured texts, including links to short informa­
tion, references or interrelated aspects in one of
the other volumes.

For the title »The Book an the Designer« I deliber­
ately decided to break with the concept by using a
method of copy-paste. I replaced my own writings
by a co­l­lec­­tion of articles I found in different blogs.

The series »Works of music by visual artists« pre­

sents pieces by artists who are internationally
for cyan / 2010
known as visual artists, but whose musical works
and compositions are in many cases rarely heard.
When I was working for the Berlin graphic design
studio cyan I designed printed matters for various
events of this series.
Cory Arcangel is known for a range of subversive
uses of computer and video technology. In his first
live performance in Berlin he presents his compo­
sition »Music for stereos«, acting on stage with lowend stereo systems.

The Icelandic artist and musician Egill Sæbjörns-
and Flyer
son combines elements of installation and per-

formance, video and live music in his works. He
brings to life everyday objects as stones, bottles,
small wooden blocks, handbags and plastic
buckets, which becomes actors in his tableaus by
using projection.
This performance / installation was created in
col­la­boration with the Brazilian director and actor
Marcia Moraes for »Works of music by visual
artists«. Photos and Sketches made by Sæbjörnsson are illustrating flyers and programm for this
event that happened in the Nationalgalerie Berlin.

The »100% erneuerbar Stiftung« was founded in
/ Presentation
2010. One of its central activ­ities is to promote
for cyan / 2010
aware­ness of the energy revolution and to explain
the backround to this new era in power generation. To multiply its message and to enter into
dialog with people a special tool was required.
The result of a collaboration with cyan is this pre­
sentation. It is locally presented in Germany by
members of »100% erneuerbar Stiftung« today.
The speaker clicks through single sheets. Information is visualized through images, easy understandable text and animated graphics. Additional
content can be explained to the audience. The
presentation can be stopped whenever needed.

developed an autonomous design and image concept for its preview of new titles. Following these
guidelines, I invented new ideas for the images
shown in the following preview of the same year.
It‘s all about books, the number »35« and cele­
brating. Cover and chapter pages playfully visualize the book‘s content, including economic affairs,
career development, politics & society.

Book
This book presents the recent paintings of swiss
artist Klodin Erb. The choice of printed linen cover

If one would take statistics, surveys and studies

in the media seriously, it would be easy to calculate

impression about this topic. I collected advice and
headlines concering my basic needs: Eat, Sleep,
self initiated project,
Work and Play. For every item I designed a poster,

The posters show a chart with the result of my
research. On other layers there are images, sources
and further information. Additionally, I created an
alphabet inspired by typical elements of statistics
and informa­tion-graphics.

In 2007 I studied in Antwerp. One assignment was
to present an outstanding and in­spiring Belgian

single-coloured, Offset
personality in a dossier of six pages. I chose to
show fashion designer Walter van Beirendonck,
self initiated project,
because I really like his open and playful way a lot.
HfG Offenbach / 2007
I focused on his eye-catching ap­pearance and
colourful work and started playing with type and
graphical elements.
The assignment included the limitation to singlecolour printing. The conspicuous names of the
collections are itemized on two pages that can be
taken out and be hung up as a poster. In addition,
a short text gives some further information.

10. Learning more about architecture
Poster series
Both – for children and for adults – it is sometimes
hard to distinguish between different styles of art

and design. This posters show different styles of
architecture and aim to aid memorizing them. My
idea was to use them in schools or other public
institutions.
Each poster shows a picture of one significant
example and some engraving shapes of the par­ti­­­
cular style. The complemented shapes contain
short texts with further information as for instance
important dates.
